    Another 3.21 vs 3.92 comparison

So I finally found the toy hauler I wanted, but first, since I haven't set up my signature yet, I will start there. I have a 1500 Big Horn quad cab, 4X4, 5.7 VVT Engine, 3.21 gear ratio and level 2 equipment package. The Trailer is a Forest River FSX260RT, weighing around 4700#'s dry. I picked...

    Another 3.21 vs 3.92 comparison

Can you post a picture of your camper? I would like to see what it looks like and brand, since that may be my option.

That might be the way I have to go. Just all of the trailers that I have looked at, other than the pop up campers, are around 5100 dry. I could still just not fill the water tank and carry on, but if I got to someplace other than a campground, I will be stuck without water.

    Another 3.21 vs 3.92 comparison

Most of the trailers that I'm looking at has a GVWR of around 7000-7500 pounds with all fluids. Without any gear or passengers, it looks like my trucks max is 6800. I am holding off on getting the trailer now until I can do more research and make sure that I get what I want and not be unsafe...

I have towed other things in the past with other vehicles, but this is the first time I have researched towing, since I plan to buy a camper and don't want to get myself in a pickle someplace that could be remote. I never really gave it a lot of thought before and probably could have easily...

Thanks for the responses and the link. I'm still not quite sure it answers my question, but I will read more on the link provided. I didn't take into account the cooling capacity, so maybe that's the key to it all, other than towing efficiency, acceleration and deceleration.

    Another 3.21 vs 3.92 comparison

I'm hoping someone can clear up something for me about this 3.92 VS 3.21 deal. So, I understand the gas mileage difference, towing in a hilly environment and efficiency, however, I don't understand how two trucks, outfitted the same, except gear ratio, and one has a higher towing capacity than...
