Injection can be noisy and varying in sound at idle. Exact same for the Hemi valve train tic if present at idle. The dealer will listen to all this at idle and say “this is normal” which it is. Chrysler posts the same response to Hemi tic in writing. At normal driving speeds you won’t hear any...
Perfectly Normal what you hear under the hood at idle. Don’t even give it a second thought. If there was an engine valve train problem you’d hear it at driving speeds, acceleration or deceleration, not idle.
So writes Michael C. Brown that holds a Machine Lubrication Technician Level I and Machine Lubricant Analyst Level I certifications through the International Council for Machinery Lubrication. This guy’s qualifications are level entry at best.
Do you think companies like Ford and Toyota that...
Good post in Hemi Tic.
Injection can be noisy and varying in sound at idle. Exact same for the Hemi valve train at idle. The dealer will listen to all this at idle and say it’s normal which it is. At normal steady driving speeds you won’t hear any of this as the oil pressure is increased by...
I understand the poor oil advice you suggest and would never install RL that has “NO” API, ILSAC, ACEA, OEM or any other recognized industry specifications declared (tested and paid for) on the Red Line Oil label, much less being the wrong grade as indicate on the oil fill cap of my 2022 Hemi...
The engine sounds like nothing out of the ordinary and you call that a problem and that the factory weight oil is incorrect. You sound delusional. Then you think that based on your experience hauling your groceries home every Friday, that me, already towing the same 7k# trailer over 125k miles...
I spend little to no time listening to my engine idle when I start it up and back out of the garage, much less with my head under the hood thinking something doesn’t sound right at idle. The majority of my time is driving 45+ mph. When I was pulling that 7k# trailer through WV in November with...
Red Line doesn’t pay for Any certifications. They “recommend” their oil for x,y,z because they are selling it.
The Chrysler MS-6395 oil specification can be found on enough oils to make it easy to purchase at a discount.
There are no API, ILSAC, ACEA, OEM or any other recognized industry specifications declared on the Red Line Oil label. The Uniform Regulation for the Method of Sale of Commodities – NIST Handbook 130 (HB-130), requires that the label on motor oils display at least one recognized industry...
Is this the Diesel or Hemi engine that you have??
Rotella T6 (15W-40, 5W-40 and 0W-40 ) does not come in 5w20, the recommended factory weight oil for the 2020 Hemi. The proper oil weight is listed on the engine oil fill cap.
To the OP. Have the dealer install the proper oil (5w20) in your pre 2022 Hemi. Hundreds of thousands Hemi owners do the very same without problems.
My 2011 Hemi Ram 1500 with 179,000 miles, towed a 7,000# enclosed car hauler 84,000 miles in 20* to 100* weather, and towed over the Appellation...
That Cement Floor tale is BS. Won’t discharge your battery. Batteries will store just fine in a cold garage also. My race car (scooter and big Zero Turn) sit in the garage (20* - 30*) from Dec – mid March with batteries in that don’t get charged. Never a problem.
The only thing the McLube jockey Tech saw was the next text on his phone while changing your oil as it generally goes into a mass collection funnel when drained. Lost the filter…..sure. Imho, this sounds like the service adviser or manager filled in the tech follow up. Visual fine metal in...
Several good opinions were posted here, and knowing this now, I would do this if it were me.
My documented complaint to the dealer service would be this. “Every time I remove the dip stick there are metal shavings on it”. I would want this complaint and a documented response on the service...
Here’s something else you need to be aware of. If enough foreign material is allowed to be trapped in the oil filter (and these oil filters are very small now) if they become plugged up, the By-pass relief valve opens allowing any unfiltered oil to enter the oiling system.
This is NOT normal. Oil should be clear of any metal debrie.
I changed the oil in my 2022 Hemi first time last month (12- 2021) at 3k miles, and the bottom of the catch pan was free of any metal when emptied. I also cut the oil filter open (it’s marked Factory Installed on bottom with white...
