Last Tuesday night I started just NW of Milwaukee WI for my first 880 mile tow with that 7k lb car hauler to Julian NC. Plenty of through city freeways, highways and WV / VA Appalachians. I just returned yesterday and here’s my review.
I inflated the 20” Dueler tires that the truck comes with...
I did more than the first 500 miles (675) without a trailer varying speed with some WOT from 4th gear getting on highways after the first 100 miles. At 675 miles I hooked up the trailer and headed for the CAT scales close by. Less than 20 miles round trip and a very short 65 mph on the highway...
If you have replaced with an Odyssey 94R H7 and still have issues, a larger battery won’t solve this problem imho. Odyssey batteries are top of the line. In July I replaced the 9 year old Odyssey 34/78 1500DT in my drag car that is very close to the same specs as a 94R H7. This cranks a 14-1 SBC...
32.5’ x 46’ with 8 x 18’ + 11’ doors . Where the lift is located was the overhead garage doors when we bought the house in 2007. Easily fixed pushing the front out 22’ and modifying the ceiling trusses for a lift that is 12’ tall. 4 months during winter the 24’ trailer with race car is stored...
Here in WI we have 88 octane that is less expensive than 87. BUT, it has up to 15% ethanol (same as any other 88) where 87, 89, 91 and 93 have only up to 10% ethanol. Although the 5th gens can use 15%, there’s no savings because it’ll take more fuel on 15% to deliver the same power and mileage...
I’m towing across WV / VA Tuesday with enclosed 7k# car hauler and new 1000 mile Hemi. Doing the same as I did with my 2011 Hemi and it’ll be with 93-91. Better mileage and power compared to when I used 89 octane in that truck towing. The difference in fuel cost is less than 30¢ a gallon. When...
Yes I wrote it incorrectly. Limited is VVT (faster and very possibly heavier) and Laramie is E-torque.
You need to turn traction control off when on the drag strip for accurate ets
Limited weighs more than Laramie. Look at the yellow door sticker that says “Combined weight of occupants and cargo should not exceed”. What are the weight numbers? 100 lbs can easily be 0.15 seconds slower.
In late August I looked for 3 days at 5 major citys within 600 miles for the 2021 truck I needed, not wanted. I found no less than 10 trucks I would have purchase but all were E-torque. No Way !!!! Ram couldn’t give these things away so they made them same price for either Hemi version and sent...
Plugging in my trailer first time last week, it does automatically turn the rear ParkSense to Off which I like.
I picked up some lumber and had the tail gate open with 2x6’s sticking out the back. Went to back up and the automatic braking system fully engaged immediately, stopping the truck.
The idea is to gain as Little height over the original 275/55 as possible. The 265/60 increases height by 0.6” and only reduces tread and section width by 0.4”. The overall dimension differences are small and should be an excellent choice for 20” LT upgrade if needed.
Tentatively I’m towing a 7k# trailer 900 miles to NC and back next week across WV / VA with my new truck, first time. Never had 20” tires (always 17”) much less P rated (Duelers 275/55-20) for towing. Always had LT tires. Tires inflated to 44psi now.
If I don’t like the feel of these P rated...
Michelin Defender. Very quiet, excellent mileage, great for towing, superb in the rain and perty good in the snow. I’ve had 3 sets of these Defenders on my 2011 towing 7k#. These Duelers that came on the 2022 are getting replaced with Michelin Defenders by 25k at best.
Like Kaderast wrote, Do...
E-torque is why I had to ordered my truck Without it. All the 2021 trucks I would have purchased on the lot in August had e-torque. It reduces the GVWR and not what I wanted. I put 179K miles on my 2011 Ram Hemi in just over 3700 hrs with 84k of that towing 7k#. Do the math.
Although the...
Using a higher quality oil than the factory recommends is an excellent choice.
Looking at what oil weight the factory recommended years ago in their engines doesn’t mean the newer engines require the exact same weight.
The factory’s constantly have these engines running 1000’s of hours of...
Whether its 0w20 or 5w20, it still has the same lubricating weight value at higher engine temps, 20w.
To increase the high temp value one would need to use an Xw30 oil.
I’m going with the Factory recommended products and documenting my oil and filter purchase for replacement during the...
