Pretty sure I've got the oldest V6 build here. Out the door on 11/2/18 (though it had been sitting at the dealership for a week or two due to me traveling), I ordered it within the first week the V6 became available to order.
Totally a light hearted question--how do you rank the looks of the latest model LD and HD trucks? Here's my ranking, focused on the exteriors of the highest trim of each truck.
1/2 tons:
Ram Longhorn (I know, technically not the highest trim, but I prefer the Longhorn grill to the Limited...
I'm one of the folks who actually really likes the look of the Denali exterior (I think it's right up there with the Longhorn as best exterior in the bunch), but that interior is a hard pass for me.
I've got it in my loaded Longhorn...this was my first truck and I've been kicking myself about it ever since. I'll be upgrading to a 2500 next year, but if I were able to go back and pick a different engine, my preference order would go 3.0>5.7>>>>>>3.6.
When I ordered my truck in summer '18, I checked prices up and down the east coast and Koons definitely had the best pricing then, which worked out quite well for me given I'm in the DC area.
I'll be upgrading to a HD in a year or two, but if I were to stay with a 1500, I'd definitely look at both. I've got Ramboxes on mine and have used them heavily over the almost 2 years I've had my truck.
My only concern would be payload, since I'd kit the next truck the same way, just swapping...
I think the issue, at least it is for me, is that plenty of other vehicles do the auto-fold, while Ram has the button for it.
I usually push the button as soon as I turn off the truck, but sometimes I forget and don't remember till I've already gotten out of the truck. At that point, yes, it is...
This happened to mine once about a year ago. I was stopped at a red light on a hill when it did the blinky D and message. Thankfully there was no one behind me, since it took me about 15 seconds to figure out what was going on, but flipping to P and back to D solved the issue and it hasn't...
I've had mine for coming up on 2 years.
The interior dash light sensor dims the lights way too eagerly
I miss my old Azera's feature of folding the mirrors in if you hit the lock button on the fob twice
The V6 was a poor choice for my loaded Longhorn, especially in the rolling hills here
I've...
I would have held out for the '20 EcoD with MFT. Things have changed since I got my '19, though, and now I'm planning on trading up to a 2500 whenever the HDs get the full 5th gen treatment.
Without going too far back in my vehicle history, I went from '97 Toyota Corolla > '14 Hyundai Azera > '19 Longhorn. I'd thought the Azera was huge when I got it! :ROFLMAO:
The dealership swapped out the Bighorn test drive for an almost loaded Limited. Still SRW/LB/HO, so pretty applicable besides the change in trim level.
Besides the ride being a bit rougher (though not *that* different from my 1500) than I'd prefer for a DD, I liked it! The HO is a beast and...
Per a post from Ramcares on the HD sister site forum, a new part is being designed to fix the issue. I assume it's the same issue for both the 1500s and HDs; if that's the case, there will likely be a recall for this in the future.
When I got my truck in 2018, I'd planned on staying in the 1500 light use case sweet spot for the foreseeable future (mostly just errands, hauling the family and gear, Home Depot runs, rental ~3500# camper a few times a year, etc), but my use case will be substantially different starting next...
