Not doing this with an e-torque, but I've set up a 200Ah LiFePO4 set of aux batteries to charge from a Victron 12-12V/30A DC-DC converter. So about 400 watts to the batteries. I'd recommend you watch your wire sizes, and maybe go for an actual charger instead of just a DC-DC converter. And at...
Anyone else a bit surprised and disappointed after doing the math, and coming up with 20.3mpg for the "gas mode"? I know extra weight for batteries wiring and electric motors, but no trans and drive shaft. I would have thought it could at least achieve the current pentastar hwy mileage of...
From How to Clean Battery Corrosion (and What Causes It) | Continental Battery Systems:
"If you notice corrosion on your battery’s positive terminal, it’s a sign that your battery may be overcharging, which can be due to a faulty voltage regulator.
Corrosion that appears on the negative battery...
I've done the central valley trip quite a bit myself, and noticed the same thing... most of the time. It's the prevailing wind. Generally out of the north west, so you effectively have 5-10 mph more air speed on the north bound trip, and 5-10 mph less on the southbound leg. I've had a couple...
Let's see, where to begin with Ram Dealers...
During the buying phase: I had one dealer keep trying to sell me trucks I didn't want (Don't bother me with short beds!). I had another not call me back when I tried to follow up after a visit, another that gave me incorrect information about...
I just had a dead battery replaced. The light went away after a 120mi trip that I was just at the start of, and a couple of restarts. The codes were all still present for the dealer to dl when I brought it in to get the battery replaced under warranty.
I was wondering if anyone with service manual access could look up the torque specs on the circled bolts in the picture. Truck is a 2022 V8 BigHorn 4x4, no e-torque. Thanks
Don't suppose your tow hooks came with torque specs for the bolts. I bought a different set which did not include torque specs in the supplied instructions.
I think in one of the upfitter docs, it had a 50A limit from the rear ground point. 40A out after boost and efficiency losses might be as high as 70A in.
From BU-903: How to Measure State-of-charge 12V: for BCI standard for SoC estimation of a starter battery with antimony, 12V -> <25% SOC . Some variability in that mapping based on exact Lead Acid Chemistry.
I've been tinkering around with various LiFePO4's, but not as a primary vehicle battery. Gets wayy to hot for them under the hood. And in the passenger compartment where all the hybrids seem to like to put their Li batteries.
I'm not impressed with the FT I put in my car a few years back. Never seemed to really have that zip on start up, and it did not hold up well to any cycling. If you're really curious, tag me and I'll look at the exact version I put in. I think there's some other battery threads around here...
Would love to see a more general disablement of the truck trying to outsmart me. Couple thousand miles in, and I keep discovering these "smart features" that make me grumble "STUPID TRUCK!" and long to go back to my 20 year old car every time I trigger one.
I was originally going to get that one, but went with the schumacher for the cigarette plug. I like to run accessories off the pack at the camp table sometimes. Can you tell what sized battery is the Dewalt?
I just bought (and returned) the Schumacher SPR1631. Advertised as 18-20AH capacity battery (web page listing, and runtime calculation from data provided in the manual). Opened it up after feeling it's too light and sure enough. Only 12AH battery loaded with foam blocks in a 20AH battery...
