No, if you need a truck you need a truck. Personally, I need to haul a 6,000 pound trailer and - sorry - a corolla just isn't going to cut it.
If you already need a truck, and you're going to drive 14,000 miles a year, why would you get one that's inefficient? I could have bought a Toyota...
The third generation trucks did *not* have good reliability ratings and do not have a good reputation outside of Dodge circles - most of those were 45RFE, 545RFE, and 68RFE's. Mine was just fine, and I don't think they're a bad transmission, but the fact is that if you go to a Ford forum and ask...
Headers, yes, anything else not really.
Headers can make a strong impact on the volumetric efficiency (VE) of the engine, and shift the torque curve up or down in RPM which makes a big difference in power. Kooks is one of the few that actually do enough R&D to make a difference (and are on my...
Curious to see your source on this. When I was poking through F150 issues, there were cam phaser problems, oil building up in charge pipes, and (on pre '17 refresh EB trucks) typical direct injection issues. With the Hemi, there are a handful of people with issues related to the (new) eTorque...
I get about 17-18mpg on my super short commute to work (my old 04 Hemi got ~12 mpg on the same route), low 20's just putting around and not hauling on the highway, and about 13 towing my race car on an open trailer (~6k lbs)
-how reliable are these trucks?
Hard to say - on a new generation...
My truck does this when it's first started - I'm guessing because there's a hydraulic pressure accumulator for start/stop that isn't quite charged yet. I've learned to let it idle in drive for a few seconds before setting off. What you're describing sounds more like it just didn't shift when you...
That's not engine knock - real engine knock sounds like someone is taking a hammer to the block at engine RPM. What you video'd sounds really slow - so probably valvetrain noise... not really concerning if it goes away.
A lot of folks seem to forget that the eTorque system acts as your alternator. If it dies, it's no different than a normal car with a bad alternator - it'll drain the battery until the modules don't have enough power to operate, and then the ECU itself can't even fire coils.
There was one...
Sounds like the power steering assist is irregular? There was a post somewhere else about a loose ground on the (electric) power steering causing issues
A lithium battery charger is not intended for use with car batteries. If you're looking to trickle charge it in your garage, just get a trickle charger that can work with AGM batteries.
If you're trying to do something bizarre while you're driving, let us know how it goes, but don't be...
Where do they advertise the truck can go 120mph? You can *make* the truck go 120mph, and the speedometer will read it... but it doesn't do that from the factory for a reason.
FCA makes $60k V8-powered vehicles that do well over 120 from the factory.. they just aren't trucks
