    2024 Ram electric pickup

The Cummins is already a $9,400 option to a Ram 2500... [edit] and most of that is because of the crazy amount of emissions hardware. Just taking the F150 as an example, the diesel engine costs MORE than the Hybrid system and turbo ecoboost engine. If you could pull the crazy emissions off the...

    2024 Ram electric pickup

Sounds about right. As someone who owns a fire suit and drives race cars, I can tell you that anyone who is more concerned about a battery combusting than gasoline has never actually set gasoline on fire. Gasoline burns fast, violent, and smoky, with no way for the car to warn you about it. Not...

    Rams Towing Racecars Thread

I'll have to snap a picture next time.. I don't think I have one of truck *and* trailer. It's a similar sight, though - I've got an e46 I load up on an R&R trailer as well!

    2024 Ram electric pickup

Not to mention that a Diesel electric Hybrid would be one of the best ways to help diesels survive. Diesel bros typically hate on electric for the political reasons above, coal roll Priuses, blah blah blah... but a Diesel fueled Hybrid would have fewer emissions components since it can be...

2021 Limited w Etorque (3k miles) - Power Shutdown while on the highway

Rob Peter to pay Paul :sneaky: Seriously though, the last thing a dealer is going to do is hamper a new sale when they already made their money off of you.

Trying to disconnect HK subwoofer w/o success: what am I doing wrong?

Yup, it booms like crazy on my (MY20) truck.. definitely contemplating this. My EQ currently has the bass turned all the way down

    N95 Filtration Coming for 2022

They likely need to increase the housing size to keep the service interval. The Tesla HEPA filters are absolutely massive For such a mass market vehicle like the Ram, I don't think anyone needs to be concerned about filter costs - there will be plenty of Chinese/ Walmart options that aren't...

    Tuned Mass Module Damaged

We're actually looking at the male terminals - based on what broke, he could theoretically unplug the broken part of the sensor, jam the female connector onto those male pins, tape it up, and it might work for a bit without a soldering iron.. but there's a reason I didn't originally suggest that...

    Tuned Mass Module Damaged

That sensor needs to be replaced - I would either glue it or let it hang out with some electrical tape to seal it in the mean time since the truck is still drive-able without it.

Ram Could Build An Electrified Ram, If Customers Request It:

I agree it would be cool to see real numbers. Theoretically the overall efficiency would be much higher - road going engines have to be subject to all sorts of weird operating ranges, so they end up with a 20-35% efficiency when they're operated in a car. Generators have the advantage of being...

    e-Torque Battery Pack replacement

The Cummins straight 6 in the 2500 is the B Series that's been around since 1984 and powers everything from trucks to school busses. The ISV Cummins was made from the ground up for the Nissan Titan.. and then discontinued as an option after just a few years. You definitely can't treat all...

Ram Could Build An Electrified Ram, If Customers Request It:

Do you have a link to that patent? I read one Ford generator patent a while back, but that was in regard to the whole truck being a generator - which they're doing now with the Hybrid (and later electric as well) https://www.caranddriver.com/features/a35152752/powered-house-ford-f-150-hybrid/

UAW to strike at midnight tonight at GM

GM: Joke's on you - we can't get processors for the modules we need to build the vehicles anyway

Tow mode / ESP button issues

On a day it doesn't work, I would see if you can make an impromptu trip to the dealer. It's silly to have to diagnose issues yourself on a new truck, but definitely don't go paying for new modules, etc. I mostly pointed that out in the event you want to take matters into your own hand. To...

    Using both WDH and airbags

You want everything level - that rake is there so that everything is closer to optimal when loaded. That being said plenty of folks use both - just make sure you set up the WDH *after* inflating the airbags, not the other way around.

Tow mode / ESP button issues

Looks like a possible problem with the wiring going to that switch module, or the module itself - this video shows how the module is part of the dash/ U-Connect assembly. I would make sure that harness to the switches is fully latched and that the pins aren't bent, etc.

Stopping if the brakes go out

Yup. I was going to say, you would think an "old school guy" would've tried out the parking brake at speed before making that assumption. Best case scenario you've got two flat-spotted rear tires and you reduce the collision speed by 5-10 mph, worst case scenario you spin and create a much more...

Location of Negative Ground Stud 2021 Ram 1500 Longhorn

For a battery tender you actually want the clamps on the battery itself - it's tending to the battery, after all. Jumping the vehicle is when you want to find a ground on the engine, because current is going through the engine itself to the starter.
