What option would "I'd be a fool" not to add?

I got a Quad Cab with 3.21 and the 33 gallon tank, have been very happy with it. Plenty of power, great highway mileage, and love the range of the big tank on long road trips.

    3.92 rear end availability

Can't believe that a 4x4 crew cab would have a payload of 1,840 - would like to see the door sticker on that.

    Horrific Gas Mileage Hemi eTorque

Averaged 21.8 on a 5,000 mile road trip just completed - 5.7 non-etorque, 3.21. This is per EVIC, I stopped hand calculating after the first couple of tanks when it seemed that the EVIC was in the ballpark. Much of this driving was 75-85 and a good bit in mountainous terrain, lots of climbing...

In case you missed my other thread, here's my mileage at the end of a 5,000 mile trip.

MPG & First long trip impressions

FINAL REPORT: Here's the grand total for my entire trip. I can't really complain about almost hitting the EPA highway mileage rating - I drove like a bat out of hell pretty much the entire trip with so many miles to cover. I'd estimate 60% of the mileage was interstate driving at 75-85, 35%...

Yes, it's not required to go there to order. But they do a LOT of customization - each trailer is built to order with an endless list of options and custom features, and it works out better to be able to talk with them in person to get a lot of custom features just the way we want.

MPG & First long trip impressions

I think it will be just over 5,000 miles in total. Four full days of driving Austin to BC, four more back, but we stopped halfway in Utah on the way up and way home for several days to break up the trip. Motels this time, we were just ordering the trailer and will have to go back in the spring...

MPG & First long trip impressions

3/4 of of the way through our road trip, 3,800 or so miles and overall mpg is a little over 22 at this point. We're taking a break for a couple of days in Moab, UT at Arches National Park and have been doing a bunch of driving around here, and the past two days from BC to here were a LOT of...

MPG & First long trip impressions

I'm not really aggressive accelerating from a stop, so I didn't need the 3.92 for extra punch there. And my 3.21 has all the power I could ask for when I punch it at speed to pass someone. With a 5,000 pound trailer I'm sure the 3.21 will be adequate, and certainly will get better gas mileage...

Getting the 5.0TA fifth wheel. It's pretty much the only half-ton towable fifth wheel made these days, will come in a little under 5,000 pounds fully loaded. Our old 98 Ram pulled a bit larger fifth wheel all over with much less power so the new Ram will handle this one with ease.

MPG & First long trip impressions

We made it to the Canadian border today. At the halfway point on our trip, have been driving at or above speed limit the whole way with lots of mountain climbing the last two days - especially today in Oregon and Washington. I'm sure if I backed off a little I could get 24 on the road easily.

    Compass not working

I'll have to check that out - pretty sure when I go to the compass app on my 8.4" touch screen all I get is a big compass graphic and it says "obtaining signal". It came on today in Idaho for a couple of hours and then went out again. Hoping it's just a loose connection. Since I don't have...

MPG & First long trip impressions

Made it to Baker City, Oregon today. About 2,000 miles so far, total overall mileage is down to 21.3 because we did a bunch of sightseeing and mountain driving in Utah and then today was blasting at 80 - 85 mph on the interstate for much of the day. I've been driving for speed, not efficiency...

    Electric cooling fan noise

I was in Utah driving a steep gravel road (https://www.dangerousroads.org/north-america/usa/783-mokee-dugway-usa.html) cut into the side of a cliff, slow going with lots of hairpin curves so probably doing 10mph on a hot day. Near the top I stopped to let an oncoming car pass and heard a loud...

    Compass not working

At home in Austin my compass worked fine. Out on a long road trip it worked at first and then apparently lost signal, just shows dashed lines on the dash display and when I go into the compass app it says "aquiring signal"....forever. It went out somewhere in New Mexico, hours later came back...

MPG & First long trip impressions

Spending a few days hiking and exploring the mountains of southern Utah before we get back on the road to BC. With high altitude mountain driving my average MPG has dropped a bit, but check out the range to empty right after I filled up, love the 33 gallon tank! Fish Lake Utah, elevation...
