Got mine fixed. The dealer sent me to a body shop and covered the work under warranty. Both the lids and the boxes were replaced. The new lids had a completely different design. Instead of being held together with double sided tape, the new lids use steel clamps and screws. I've got my fingers...

I just replaced the third speaker, and yes it makes a real difference over just replacing the corners. Much easier than the corners too. I can't express how happy I am to hear cymbals again along with all the other high end sounds missing from the stock speakers.

There doesn't seem to be much mention of the rear headliner speakers that come with the Alpine system. It looks like the perfect place for after market tweeters. Are these speakers generally ignored because the location is just too much trouble to deal with?
