Thanks for that video, that's a great trick. It's sure a lot more convenient than always having to go to a CAT scale, especially for me since the nearest one is an hour and a half away. I'll rig that up when I buy a trailer.
One thing I did forget to mention - when you get a chance, check all of your fuses to see if they were fully inserted all the way in the sockets. The majority of mine were only partially inserted. I had to push almost all of them down to properly seat them.
Lol, if I had OCD it would definitely bother me. We used to pick on the rookie engineers and techs where I worked and we'd tell them they reversed the polarity on a fuse or a resistor. You'd be surprised how many fell for it, even guys from MIT and Georgia Tech. :p
Yes, I'm aware that a WDH can shift some of the weight to the trailer axles. However, it's hard to verify and I don't know if I would want to count on it. It would be much better to start off with the proper specs as if no WDH was going to be used. I will, of course, definitely use a WDH to...
Yes, I am quite concerned about all of that. It's amazing how stressful trying to have a little fun can be, lol.
I won't be a weekend camper, my plans are to head south each winter (soon-to-be-retired Snow Bird). I'm getting too old for a constant 3 feet of snow and 15-degree weather for months...
True, but what I want to do, and I suppose most others, is to simply be able to tow the trailer we want to buy, not load up the truck with hundreds of pounds. Either truck is limited to 1100 lbs. or less tongue weight. You can't practically and conveniently put the propane tanks and the dual RV...
You're right of course. I was coming from an SUV and the RAM 1500 Limited had double the towing capacity. Still, it's never enough. I can go to the 2500 end of the forum and people there are being told to move up to a 3500.
But even if I didn't buy a loaded Limited and had the full 1800 lb...
Well, my Limited came with airbags, but as you know that only helps a bit with the leveling and not with the tow specs.
You're so right, I am driving myself crazy trying to stay within the capacities. If I was blissfully ignorant then I would just buy what I wanted and properly get away with...
This, of course, is absolutely true and that's exactly where the problem lies for someone looking to buy an RV.
What does someone like me do? I'm currently looking for a travel trailer that I can safely tow with my 2021 RAM 1500 Limited. My VIN came back with a Maximum Payload of 1,156 lbs and...
I don't think you can fully blame someone who purchased a RAM 1500 with a payload rated at say 1700 lbs for going out and purchasing a trailer with a fully loaded tongue weight of 1400 lbs. As far as they may know, and as far as RAM has led them to believe, they have 300 lbs of capacity left...
Let me get this straight. You're saying that the maximum tongue weight of the RAM 1500 is only 1100 lbs?! Wow, that's going to be a shock to a lot of 1500 owners who think that they can pull a trailer with a loaded tongue weight of say 1300 lbs because their payload is say 1600 lbs. It doesn't...
Why would they give such allowances for the table but not for the sticker? That is very confusing for owners especially those who don't read these forums and who don't have access to someone who could clarify this information. You would think that they would use some sort of standard throughout...
I recently purchased a 2021 RAM 1500 Limited. I only have an 1156 lb Payload rating (as per the door sticker) to work with. So, each pound means a lot when it comes to selecting a Travel Trailer. On the trailer I want, I calculate I'll be around 90 lbs over my payload limit after I add all...
Here is the most comprehensive Power Distribution Information you'll find anywhere for the RAM 1500 5th Gen:
RAM 1500 5th-Gen Power Distribution Centers Website
RAM 1500 5th-Gen Power Distribution Centers Additional Info
Note: I've recently updated the RAM 1500 5th-Gen Power Distribution Centers website with additional new information. As I learn more about the RAM's electrical systems, I'll keep both updated to supply the best information possible on this topic.
If you would like to power your dashcam from a hidden wire rather than from the 12 VDC plug, I can explain how to do this. It would give you a much cleaner look for your dashcam install. It's not difficult.
I don't think that they're longer, that might just be a perspective issue on the photo.
I think the holes are just oriented more toward one side vertically. This would probably just raise or lower the height of the brackets depending on which ones you selected. I've asked Right-On Brackets to...
