2020 Ram 4wd lowering journey….

Looking good! Don’t forget to leave all suspension bolts/nuts loose until the truck is on the ground so as not to damage any of the bushings. I had to build cribs to do any future suspension work so I can actually get under the truck while the suspension is loaded. I could have used jack stands on the axles, but they got in the way. The cribs go under the tires and are out of the way of any work that needs to be done.
And great idea on the cribs…. I have some for my snowmobiles that i can just build a little higher in order to use them later !

Well, a good start to the day, yesterday’s 4 hour strut (and some minor LCA) debacles turned into an hour job today on the passenger side…. Lessons learned for sure….

Now onto getting the brakes on then on it’s own weight to torque before moving onto the rear!

Alright…. Front is done and down on all 4 for torquing…. Seemed a little high, had a bit of a settling while steering side to side and flipped it around in the shop to get to work on the rear, and of course the rear still being stock will affect it…. May just let it sit on its own weight while i work on the rear before torquing….

End of day update, rear mostly disassembled…. Stock springs and airlift bags out, the airlift bags had me cut out the bumpstop cups when they went in, so at least thats off the list! Also hoping there wont be issues with not having a ‘brake service mode’ in my settings for when i replace the rear rotors and pads….

What a day on the rear!! Cut kit…. If I never hear those words again it will be too soon!

Kidding aside, it wasnt that bad, but it wasnt that good either…. Found the sawzall was the best method, with the grinder stepping in to clean up…

I hear ya! I did mine with the axle still on the truck. HUGE PIA! I should have removed it, but I didn’t want to have to remove the brake lines and then have to bleed the brake system afterwards.

I was almost going to pull the axle and decided not to because I was able to keep controls arm on one side and lower enough to get it done…. Honestly, even with the axle out its still hard to get all the angles…

BTW, once you get it all back together and on the ground, inspect your lines and hoses. My diff vent hose was rubbing on the exhaust.

Slow and steady for me now, checking everything…. 8 hours until the alignment appointment !
