Hey everyone,

I recently upgraded from a 2022 Ram1500 where I had added a DRVM and a towing camera that used a Fakra connector to run to the RVM.
I purchased a 2026 Ram1500 with the Trailer Technology Group and Towing Package (shown below). It comes pre-equipped with the DRVM; however, I'm not sure if my existing camera on the trailer is going to be compatible. I get the truck in a few weeks, but am trying to get prepped as we are making a trip pretty soon after arrival.

The new 2026 has a 12-pin connector for the trailer, and I don't know if I need to somewhow re-wire the trailer side of things to integrate the camera into a new connector for passing into the 12-pin or if there is going to be a FAKRA connector like was used in the 2022 for the trailer camera.

I'm open to other suggestions, I prefer to be able to actually use the RVM rather than the typical surround view so that I can use it while driving and not just when backing up.

I'm not opposed to replacing the camera; however, I don't know if there are any good aftermarket options (or direct from MOPAR) that are designed to be integrated into that system natively?

I do still have the 2022 DRVM and could possibly see if those will swap out and re-run the FAKRA that we have on the 2022.

Does anyone have any more info on how this comes "out-of-the-box"?

Thanks!

I could not find a solution available for my 2025 1500 limited so created my own integrated solution and it is working perfectly.

I’ve wired up my four trailers and move my magnetic trailer camera between them to view the rear view image in the DRVM.

Check with the dealer that you are getting the DUAL camera input DRVM, rather than the SINGLE input !!!

I have this (along with the 12 pin( on the bumper. My 2022 used a different connector (also shown below) so I think I need a new cable or adapter for my camera to the bumper. I see you have that cable end, what is it called? 1000008953.jpg1000008954.jpg

I haven’t named it … haha

I designed it and have it 3D printed. I can supply the 39’ trailer harness with this connector fitted.

That is awesome.

Question: (And maybe it won't work anymore). I had just retrofitted my previous RAM before it was totaled with the Dual DRVM and trailer camera kit that utilized the Coax fitting I had above. (Details from my retrofit Previous Post for 2022 Ram 1500) I still have that cable already installed on the Trailer (However, I could replace it), but now I'm wondering if the existing camera (Which was the MOPAR Camera in this KIT: 68527599aa) would still be usable.

Anyways, I was curious about what the cable that you fitted through your adapter was terminated with? It looks like you terminated it and then fitted it within your plug.

I would be interested in buying a printed plug (or two) from you, but if I can keep my existing trailer cabling and re-terminate it - that would be ideal. I'd have to double check what the length of our existing cable was on the trailer. It's a 24' camper that we were towing, but I am wondering if the camera I have had a different termination on the other end... I remember using a lot of FAKRA connectors when we were putting everything together and I believe it was the same, but I'll have to check on that as well.

You are correct. My 3D printed plug utilizes the FAKRA crimp contact but I have to modify the contact length for it to work. It is likely you will screw that part up if I simply supplied the 3D printed plug.

However, if you were to replace your existing coax connector on your trailer wiring with a male FAKRA Z connector (as shown in the attached photo), then I could provide you with a short adapter cable (say up to 9’) to use between your trucks bumper plug and your replacement connector.

I’ve also added some photos of the modified contact and the proposed adapter harness.

The thing is, we don’t know if your existing trailer camera will work with your new DRVM without trying. We can overcome this with a replacement camera if needed.
