In the UK? I didn't think they let you guys have guns after the mayhem of armed citizens back in '76.Hello. What are the legal requirements for setting up a sub 12ft/lbs range in my garden in the UK. I seem to recall there is a rule about how far away from a public highway you need to be but I can't find it. 15 feet seems to "ring a bell". My garden is 40 metres long and 18 metres wide and private. The downside is that there is a narrow lane across the back which would be only 12 feet away if I went for max range.
There’s a mansion near me—their garage is bigger than my house—and the owners have an indoor shooting range. I don’t know them, so I’ve never seen it myself, but my old neighbors know them and say it’s even more impressive than their bowling alley.
I don’t have any of that. But I do have a ping pong table and a pickup truck.
That’s an idea, but I think with the cost of doing that you could buy a few acres in the country within an hour of your home for a little more, that you could freely shoot, hunt, add a small cabin, and continue to add on. Would not cost as much as you might think if you buy in the right areas that are less desirable for most.I don't have the acreage to shoot on our property so I keep threatening to bury two steel containers end to end and build myself an underground pistol range.

I’ve done many hunting clubs and there was way too much drama. Grown men acting childish, so I decided to do my own thing. I suppose they can work with the right people, but even clubs with all close friends seem to break up.Agreed, around here we just buy into a hunting club with hundreds of acres. There's usually a shooting area established. I have access to one, 15 minutesfrom the house but never find the time to go.
I bought my first piece of land when I was 19. That was 33 years, 11 houses, 2 provinces, 2 states and 2 countries ago. I can't even begin to count the things I've build and had to leave behind.
I grew up in Canada on a 200 acre farm that backed onto millions of acres of public land that we could freely hunt and explore. Everything feels like a compromise after growing up with that kind of freedom.
You bought the property last year but text the property owner that you will be shooting? You text yourself? This was already set up on the property we bought last year. Plan is to buy more railroad ties, build out a nice U and load it with dirt and clay.
Right now it's just stacked railroad ties, some dirt, logs, and a little more dirt behind it. Backdrop is about 30 acres of field with woods at the end, no buildings. Just to be safe I text the property owner and let them know I'll be out shooting. He's awesome about it and appreciates the heads up, even though he only comes out there during hunting season.

I suppose I did word that poorly, I text the owner of the property behind us. He owns 80+ acres surrounding our house that he uses for hunting and recreational farmingYou bought the property last year but text the property owner that you will be shooting? You text yourself?
Watch out for tampon Timmy! Our cabin is on an irregular 40 because of the shoreline. The 40 is split between four cabins, so we each have a little under 10 acres - essentially four rectangles of land. All of us have shooting ranges. Mine was originally just a target across the valley. We could shoot from our woodshed across...probably 100 yards. Then a tree fell on the target. We are in the iron range of Minnesota, so lots of rocks. You have to be careful where you shoot due to ricochets.
I usually will not shoot if neighbors are at the lake at the same time as me. If they are and I feel a strong desire to shoot, I pop off two quick rounds into the air towards the back swamp. We all know what that means.
Currently I have a metal beer sign as a target. I find various objects that need "beautification" to be my shooting targets.
