Hurricane Team,
Today, one year ago, I decided to buy the 2025 RAM 1500 Limited SST H.O..I had the 2019 RAM 1500 Laramie with a few bolt-ons w/90K+ miles on it, which was an outstanding and reliable truck. At 79K miles, the exhaust manifolds cracked, and I spent $1200 in dealer cost to replace them. I knew, expected, and budgeted for this issue to arise. All good, everything back to normal. I'm a stickler when it comes to maintenance, and so, I take care of things immediately. At 92K miles, I hear that infamous tick. I bought a stethoscope and began my investigation, and coming from the driver-side valve cover was that tick. It was clear as I moved up and down each valve cover that I had a potential MDS lifter collapse--you could hear that metallic failure taking place. I was like damn.
When President Trump came into office and began imposing tariffs on our closest trade partners, Canada and Mexico. Guess where our trucks and parts come from, both! At the time, the cost to replace the cam and lifter was between $8-10K, depending on who you hired, and that cost with Trump in office would certainly exceed that. In the midst of this, I was watching the 2025 RAM with the new Hurricane and electrical gremlins unfold. It was risky business for me. I was like, let's see what the best decision is here: 1) Do I go ahead and fork over the $8-10K to repair the Hemi tick issue with hopes that the motor itself didn't succumb to metal shavings or 2) Do I opt for the ultimate in RAM innovative designs and work through the gremlins?! You saw my choice, and it was a good one.
After a few factory defects, a couple of tows before 500 miles, firmware/software updates, and a lot of hell-raising for good dealer support, my RAM is running like a smooth Swiss Watch at 16K miles with no issues since then. It is an amazing, quiet, well-mannered motor, and the XF 8-speed trans is a marvel. Hit the go pedal, especially from pre-boosted launch and your whole body gets a nice seat depression like a shuttle launch! Roll onto a highway with 25-30% throttle in sport mode, and your entiering the highway blasting by vehicles in seconds. It's crazy and thrilling, yet domicile and quaint! FIRING THIS WICK IS INSTANT! The bolt-on mods in my sig only exemplified the exemplary fully forged motor's strength and capabilities, and the engineering that makes twin-turbos so potent! I was watching my CAT 6 app and was seeing boost pressures between 29-33 lbs of boost! What an incredibly reliable and luxurious sport truck that brings smiles (and laughs) for miles, and yes, I use all the amenities while I'm passing fools in total comfort!
This Hurricane motor is the most innovation well built engine design based on the successes of our European partners with reliable options you can buy with confidence, so don't hesitate, get it, you won't be sorry!
That's my Update! Enjoy the innovation!
