Anyone one with a ‘25 / ‘26 with the base level cluster…..

I’m used to the lane keep assist icons on my other vehicles displaying in white (enabled but not monitoring), green (enabled and actively monitoring), and amber (lane keep warning). I’m specifically talking about the little icon, not the larger center display.

I’ve noticed my truck only does white and amber. I liked the green so you know when it was actually seeing lanes and actively working. Is this supposed to do green indication as well? I’ve seen pics of higher trims showing the icon in green, but I can’t find a clear point of reference for the lower end cluster like I have.

On a 2025 Ram 1500, the Active Driving Assist (lane keep assist) icons turn green when the system is actively engaged, has detected lane markings, and is actively steering to keep the truck centered. The icon remains white when the system is enabled but not actively guiding the vehicle.

Key Details on Green Icon Activation:
  • Active Steering: The steering wheel icon turns green when the system is assisting with steering, typically on highways.
  • Active Driving Assist Button: Press the button on the right side of the steering wheel to activate the system, which will show white, then turn green upon engagement.
  • Conditions: The system requires clear lane markings, a minimum speed, and for the driver to have their hands on the wheel (unless in a hands-free enabled zone/mode).
  • Limitations: The icon will not turn green if a trailer is connected, as the system disables with a trailer.
If the system cannot detect lane lines, the icon may turn white, and if a lane departure is imminent, it may change to amber or flash.

I dont have the same cluster but lesser options than the poster above.

Lane keep assist shows white lines when not disabled. Amber if you get close to an side. But no visible differences for.detectig a lane or not. Also no.ateering wheel icon of any sort.

Yeah, that's not how the little icon works on the Ram. But it is working as it should.

I think active driving assist is a higher feature than lane keep assist. I’ve got a Tradesman, the lane keep assist is very basic compared to some of my other vehicles that will pretty much drive theirselves.

Ok, so yours never turns green to indicate it sees the lines and “you’re good”. That’s what my other vehicle does. I like that better because when it looses the lines for whatever reason and goes to white, you know it’s enabled but not in a position to do its job at the moment.

Right, that's not how it works. If you did have the AI driving assist and not just LKAS, it would work as you describe. But on LKAS, it never turns green.

I have all the nanny stuff turned OFF, but I still get an occasional chime warning, but there's NO warning light anywhere on the dash. Pretty annoying.

The only thing I can think of for that; when someone is in my blind spot and I turn on, or have on, blinker in that direction it beeps. But if you have every thing disabled…. I’m not sure.

Check your navigation to see if the red light camera alert is turned on.

I have a 2025 Rebel Lvl 2 which has Active Driving Assist System listed on the Window Sticker. So when I turn it on, the side icons do turn green.. I have to keep my hands on the wheel, but just barely. It will almost drive for me... but it does keep me between the lines on the road. Here is the URL for the features https://www.ramtrucks.com/active-driving-assist.html

So I am not 100% sure that is the Hands-Free Active Driving Assist System as the window sticker just lists the Active Driving Assist System. I do not think my truck has the camera on the steering wheel, so I do not think I have the Hands-Free mode.

ACTIVE DRIVING ASSIST

If the road you’re on doesn’t support Hands-Free Active Driving Assist( Disclosure1), available Active Driving Assist( Disclosure2) will kick in when driving the 2025 Ram 1500. This system constantly monitors your vehicle’s position in the lane and makes subtle but constant steering adjustments that help prevent your vehicle from drifting to either side. Be sure to always keep your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.
