Did a quick oil change and it resulted in a low oil light

If you search for MOPAR oil change deals there are usually packages where you buy 2-4 oil changes in advance and get a discount. I won't take my truck to a discount oil change place. I do like doing it myself, but the placement of the RAM filter sucks (yes I have the udder) and I can't buy the oil and filter for cheaper than I can buy the oil change packages. At least the dealer puts in the right oil.

2021 - purchased 4 oil change package for $185 (~$46 each)
2024 - purchased 3 oil change package for $170 (~$57 each)
2026 - purchased 2 oil change package for $145 (~$72 each)

The last time that I did an oil change myself, it cost me $87 for 7qts and filter - using the oil specs in the manual.
$53 for PUP 5 20 and a Mopar filter from Walmart and DIY oil change.

it's been like that since day 1.. lol

I used to take pride in never going to dealers. I really only started going when I bought the Wrangler because it was under warranty. I used to always do my own work but once I hit 60 I just decided I wasn't doing it anymore. No more floor jacks, jack stands and all that stuff. So I found a good local mechanic 5 or so years ago and he gets my business and there are no service advisors to worry about. When i get a call for additional work it is from the mechanic or the owner.

I did the first change myself at 500 miles, but the second one at 5000 miles I paid $150 for the dealer to do it. The justification is 1) I was traveling and 2) nice to have a record that the dealer did it, in case a warranty issue comes up.

It's so easy to change the oil on these trucks. Don't even have to jack it up. ~$50 for oil and a decent filter and I can have it done in less time than it takes to drive to a place to get it done. And then I know exactly what I put in, and that it was done correctly. I don't foresee ever a need for the dealer to do it again unless I'm traveling.

But a quick-change place? No way. What I hate most about those places are how many other things they take apart looking for more work. "oooh there's a bug in your air filter and you brake fluid is dark!".
