Hi
Well we know the ticking would come eventually... but here is the story

Driving normally on the highway, never heard a ticking sound ever before.. its a 2021 ram rebel with a v8 hemi 5.7 with a mialage of about 140k miles.

Stopped on the side tried to hear it.. it comes loud from.the driver side.. i knew it .. its the manifold..

Went and bought it with new gaskets.. after several hours of hard labour..

Oh no.. sound did not change..

Could you please please check if you feel its the lifters ???
And your opinion.. does it worth it to repair the lifter camhttps://youtu.be/JeLfBedWO-4?si=gdC1ZwbKjAaL8IlR etc or just buy a used hemi with under 100k miles.

Thank you

Try an automotive stethoscope and see if you can pin down a cracked manifold. Kind of a last attempt to not diagnose a failed lifter.

However no knocking when MDS activates does suggest it is one of those lifters. This clue is really a 50-50 thing as non-MDS lifters are just as likely to fail, but it is a clue.

Thanks
Yes it feels like the sound does look like a buttom knock.

The manifolds were cracked and replaced with no difference to the sound unfortunately 😔

well,
it turned out to be 4 lifters rotated and got stuck.
replaced all lifters, cam and it works like a charm

a strange cylinder 1 circuit open code poped up... but engine is like new
Thanks for following up. Might help the next person who has this issue!
