On my 2020 Laramie with 12" screen, I put over 6200 songs in folders on a 64GB flash formatted NTFS. All files were in FLAC 16-bit. It took at least 25-30 minutes to load, and after finishing the songs played great. Problem came when I would skip a song or two, Uconnect would lock up (nothing on screen would work), and only unplugging USB drive would reset it (after lots of cussing and hair pulling). Worked great on my PC so put all files into root directory on USB (no folders). Same issue happened. Changing USB ports didn't help.
Was looking for a possible update for Uconnect or even a new port module, when I found a reference to file size. Changing to MP3 was an option I didn't want. So I instead changed all files to FLAC 8-bit from the 16-bit I had them. It worked!!! No issues since. Load time was much faster also (couple minutes). Apparently there was too much info in the files to read, and that kept crashing the system.
So yes it can play up to 24-bit files in FLAC, but file size might cause an issue.
