Note that the newest TomTom files dated 12/2025 are now available - they were still the 2024 files in late January. I don't know how often these are refreshed but was pleased that I caught a new batch.

After reading the comments and frustrations about this process I wanted to document how I got it to work. I updated mine on 3/10/26 (from its original ?/2021 files!) and here are some notes worked and didn't work:

You must use a USB drive that is 32 GB. 16GB is too small to hold the files that you download from Stellantis I only wanted the North America files.
I did not have a USB stick that would kick off the update when plugged in to the USB A port under the screen - What worked for me was a USB 3.0 dongle branded Smart Q (SMART QUICKLY from amazon) that has slots for multiple formats of memory cards. I used a new SanDisk Ultra 32GB Micro SD that I purchased from the SanDisk store on amazon. I did a quick Format on the Micro SD - It took a couple of tries and worked when I got a popup stating that my drive needed to be formatted and to "click here". This was odd but worked. It was pre-formatted so you may are may not get this step.
I downloaded the files to my laptop, extracted all (unzipped) to a new folder and then copied all 8 files to the USB dongle with the Micro SD plugged into the slot. It takes a few minutes to download, unzip and copy these large files.

Started my 2023 and plugged in the dongle to the left USB A under the screen and the screen immediately announced "update in process" with an orange progress bar. The blue led on the dongle flashed slowly indicating data transfer. I left the truck idling while this was progressing. I entered and exited the truck several times during the update. It took 34 minutes and once it was done, it booted up with the new data.

It was easy once I found a USB drive that was recognized. Hope this helps someone.

Why do they make this so hard???
I don't like the format of Tom Tom, so I just use Google maps.

It really isn't that hard once the unit accepted my USB drive. It does take some time which is mainly due to the 17.4 GB size of the files. It is free so why not?

I usually use google maps and waze but there are times when having a different source is very helpful. Most recently there was a widespread flashflood event that closed many roads and it was amazing that google, apple, waze and the truck native maps all reported different road closures.

ToTom is just plain garbage. I have an area in my area that was developed in 2020, yet it does not show up in TomTom maps. Go to google maps and search for 24865 Hospitality Pl. Murrieta and zoom in with satellite view and then do the same with TomTom, it even doesn't list this address, even with the 2025/12 map update.

I have never had any issues updating maps on my 2022 Limited using a 32G microSD card with an SD adapter and USB card reader.
As long as you have downloaded, extracted and the files copied to the 32G card (not in a folder on the card).
I only download and use North American maps. I do the map update while driving to a destination about a hour away rather than wasting gas idling the truck in the driveway. The update usually takes approximately 30 - 45 minutes.
Tom Tom updates are not as up to date as Google but when I don’t have cell service and Google maps don’t work, at least I can use the truck navigation.

Somehow I missed this update and just downloaded the files. I've never had any issues updating my NAV and do so religiously every quarter when available. I always use Carplay but like the native navigation backup since I sometimes travel to areas where cell service is spotty like parts of the Navajo Nation. We're lucky that map updates are provided for free. Consider that most have to pay for the upgraded maps are we don't. That's a win in my book.

Free map updates are nice.

My 20 Wrangler came with maps that were outdated by 2 years. MA finally renumbered the exits on I95 a year or so ago to comply with Federal law so the maps had incorrect exit numbers. Waited around until the map update went on sale for around $100 if I remember. The update came with 2 USB drives. First drive was used to update the nav software to a new version and the second USB had the actual map updates. The whole process was pretty straight forward and took around 90 minutes. I guess the software on the USB drives would work on most/all of the newer Wranglers because it required you type in a one time use activation code which was printed on the oder slip included with the drives.
