Changed the oil for the first time today.
Man, its simple and easy compared to the Hemi(filter location).
Whoever puts on the oil filters is an a-hole, it started to crush but broke free before it collapsed too bad.

Out of curiosity how many miles did you go before the 1st. change?

I did my 25 limited at 3000, just recently at 7000 and next at 10,000.
Then between 3000 and 5000 thereafter.

1500 miles. No real reason other than a little peace of mind during break-in.
I'll say this, the oil was filthy. Much darker than expected.

1800 miles. Much the same reason as zlman and it was darker than I expected as well.

Maybe this is one of the reasons they don’t include a dipstick

Get a fumoto oil drain valve, not convenient as a dip stick, but able to take a controlled sample.
Just a thought,

I was just going to post that and thought I better read the rest of this thread just in case lol. I have one on my 14 Durango hemi and another vehicle after I couldn't get the drain plug out for some reason. I do all my own oil changes and this one time it just wouldnt come off. Heat, impact wrench and finally it broke free. Fumoto after that. They are awesome.

What size valvomax are you using? Their website doesn’t have a 26’ ram 1500 3.0l listed.

Fumoto on my hemi because of the horrible drain onto the sway bar design. Picked up one for my Fiancés car too since I already had the drain kit for it and hers was on a big Amazon sale.

Oil filter location alone might be reason to swap to a hurricane.

I've used Fumoto on several vehicles. I like the idea of them but don't really like the valve design. I switched to Votex. It's a simpler design and doesn't stick out from the oil pan as much, for those who are concerned about that. They're a little more expensive but they're made in the USA and are stainless steel instead of brass.

Interesting. Might try that on a 1500 I have on order as opposed to the Fumoto.

Looks identical to Valvomax

Not identical but quite similar. Both are stainless steel and made in the USA, and similarly priced. I came across the Votex system first so that's why I chose that one. I probably would have gone with the ValvoMax if I had seen that first lol.
