Hi all,

I purchased my first truck back in December of 2018:
Truck Specs: black 2019 "All New" RAM 1500 Lonestar, Crew Cab, 4x4, 5.7 Hemi with eTorque, RamBoxes, Protection Group, Level 2 Equipment Group, 33–Gallon Fuel Tank, Class IV Receiver–Hitch, Trailer Brake–Controller
Modifications: Spray–In Bedliner by LINE-X
Accessories: Truck Covers USA Roll Tonneau Cover (TCU-CR305MT) with Yakima rails (TCU-AX-500/501), Husky Liners X-Act Contour Front & Rear Floor Mats, Clazzio Synthetic leather seat cover kit, OEM Bed Step (82215289AH)
Warranty Work: replaced bearings in eTorque and belt tensioners
Out-of-Warranty Work: replaced fried RF Hub due to leaking rear window (Mopar extended warranty to 150,000 miles due to their faulty design, but they denied the claim.)

I traded it in for a used truck last year:
Truck Specs: white 2024 RAM 1500 Rebel, 4x4, 5.7 Hemi with eTorque, RamBoxes, Customer Preferred Package 27W, Bed Utility Group, Night Edition, Rebel Level 2 Equipment Group, Electronic Shift–On–Demand Transfer–Case, 33–Gallon Fuel Tank, Class IV Receiver–Hitch, Trailer Brake–Controller, Spray–In Bedliner by Mopar®
Accessories: Truck Covers USA Roll Tonneau Cover (TCU-CR305MT) with Yakima rails (TCU-AX-500/501), Husky Liners X-Act Contour Front & Rear Floor Mats, Weigh Safe Steel 180 Pro hitch. Soon: Vice Design Hidden Winch Mount with WARN VR EVO 12-S winch

RamBoxes are the Bee's Knees

I appreciate everyone's knowledge on this website, it has been a great resource.

Best,
TCP

Some say it’s never too late for an introduction. I guess it’s true lol. I agree with you about the Rambox option. It’s a deal-breaker for me on any Ram truck on which it’s an option. Same with the MFT.

Same with the MFT.

My first car had a multifunction tailgate (1990 Buick Estatewagon... with the woodgrain vinyl finish 😂 ). It seems novel, but I can't imagine needing to swing my tailgate open on my truck - I am sure there are people who do use that function though.

(The second and third row folding seats were great for hauling stuff, and it also had a V8 and got the same MPG as my 2019 RAM 1500: 19mpg!)

The MFT opens barn door style. It doesn't open in one piece like the tailgate on your '90 Buick wagon. I was a skeptic at first too, but the MFT has been a game changer for me when loading or unloading anything that you would normally have to lift over the tailgate. Definitely not a novelty. It's the reason that at almost 63 I can still load bags of mulch, sand, salt pellets, wood pellets, etc without killing my back. It also makes cleaning the bed out a lot easier if I had a load of bulk gravel or mulch. Just open the MFT and just sweep it out. Nothing gets stuck in the tailgate crack lol. And I can still open it "normally" if I need to do that. It's amazing how many people comment on it when I open it in the parking lot at Lowes :ROFLMAO:. But like the Rambox option, you either like it or you don't. (y)

I think the regular tailgate does have a load limit of 300lbs, so I do have to be careful. I agree that probably makes cleaning out the bed easier, and you definately don't have to climb in the bed to move a loaded item from the tailgate into the bed, to then be able to close the tailgate. Alright, I might consider it if the RAM 1500 REV has one in a few years.

Actually, Ram rates it at 2000 lbs. Same for the regular tailgate.

It's funny you should say "I might consider it [MFT] if the RAM 1500 REV has one in a few years."
.
I'm very interested in the upcoming REV (formerly Ramcharger), but I absolutely can't give up the MFT on my 2020. Everything Mikeru82 said, plus I'll add that the Ram MFT makes getting up into the bed and back down out of it far, far easier and faster than any other contrivance Ford or GM has come up with. I'm nearing 70, have had lifelong lower-back issues and later on knee issues. the MFT is the single most valuable, useful, always used option on my truck.
.
To that end, here's my plan...if Ram doesn't offer the upcoming REV with the MFT, I will buy the REV in the same color as my 2020 and swap in the MFT from my 2020 to the REV. Assuming the REV's electrical architecture will allow the MFT to function of course - if it doesn't, then I'll keep my 2020.
.
I've never understood why Ram gives the MFT no marketing love. It's not for every user, which of course is fine - to each their own. But in my experience the Ram MFT is more useful, safer, faster and easier than any of the tailgate and bed entry/egress options offered by any other automaker.
