Hello, I recently purchased a used 2023 Rebel with the 5.7L HEMI (about 35k miles). I had all the fluids serviced at a local shop, and during that process the mechanic noticed traces of oil in the coolant. I took it to the dealer and they diagnosed it as a leaking oil cooler. They also performed a block test to rule out combustion gases in the cooling system, and it came back negative — so no signs pointing to a head gasket issue.
From what I’m reading, it seems like oil cooler failures aren’t unheard of on the 5.7L HEMI platform. I’m new to Ram trucks, so I wanted to ask the community: is this a fairly common issue on these engines, and are there any long-term concerns I should keep an eye on?
Appreciate any insight — thanks in advance.
