eTorque Bearing Replacement, Fixed Grinding Noise

I was experiencing these exact issues with my ‘21 Ram 1500
Great info and thanks very much for sharing. After about a month of starting to hear some bearing whine, my MGU is now dead with no charging at all. So I'm probably past just a simple bearing replacement and I've got a dead $60k truck.

FWIW, I came across a reddit post showing the bearings as 6003 and 6305. The 6003 would confirm what @UpNorthEngineer measured. Not sure on that front bearing but I'm passing the info along in case it helps anyone.
My truck died on me on the way to the dealership & had it towed the rest of the way. The tow guy tried jumping it to at least get it in neutral and on to the truck but wouldn’t hold the charge after removing the cables. Do you think that means I have no charge in my MGU either? What did you end up having to do for your situation? I planned to get my truck towed back to my home from the dealership and work on it with my buddy following @UpNorthEngineer write up.

I just ordered mine from ebay... if it comes in and it's the right part, I'll do a tear down video and post it so you guys can see the inside of the water cooled mgu.

Update from my earlier posts Because I had voltage/battery issues beyond the grinding, I did not do the bearing swap. After 6 freaking months... They finally got a replacement mgu. They had to reach out to a dealer in another state to source it. Can't wait to have my truck back.

For anyone concerned over the 6305 bearing and the commonly found rated maximum RPM (7500) for a sealed bearing. I found what I believe to be a suitable alternative.

The NSK 6305VVC3 is rated for 13000 RPM similar to the smaller 6003 bearing. The difference is this bearing has a non-contact seal allowing for the higher RPM. This seal type is not as good as a contact seal but much better than a shielded bearing. I believe this seal type will adequately protect the bearing since the MGU isn’t heavily exposed to moisture.

I have not replaced my bearings yet but they are starting to get increasingly noisy on cold mornings so I know my time is coming. I started planning ahead and ordering bearings when I came across this one so I thought I’d share.

i posted earlier. i have 2 friends with et one got his bearings replaced for 300ish the other took it to the same shop and his was too far gone it needed more than a bearing replacement he ended up replacing it with a used unit he paid 3k for the part and labor. it was still under warranty but he decided he could not wait months for his truck(kinda foolish imo). the point is don't wait too long if you hear noise go ahead and replace those bearings.

Just want to say thanks to Ram / Mopar. This issue just escalated to the biggest fight between my wife and myself. It looks like I'm doing nothing while paying on a truck sitting in our drive way and having to rent and borrow cars from family so we can both go to work. Been on a list from one of the mopar sites since October and no updates when I ask them about incoming supply.
Anyone know if there is a cheaper alternative than the $3k+ ones listed on ebay?
