Snow vs. All-Terrain tires?

Thanks for this thorough review and suggestions. I'm a winter tire tire proponent and fully agree with your listing. I only ended up going with the Dunlop Winter Maxx SJ8s because they were on closeout and I got them for $130/ea. It's only been a few days since mounting them, but so far I've experienced slush, wet roads, dry roads, ice, hard packed snow, and <2" deep snow. These keep me sure-footed and are performing wonderfully. Cornering is great too; no over/under-steer whatsoever. I've only yet to tackle deep snow. Here in SE Michigan, that is a rarity, so I might not get to test out that factor.
Good price. Enjoy.

As a follow-up ... got a chance to try out the OEM Dueller H/L Alenza's in yesterday's snow storm, and promptly ordered snow tires when I got home. I had forgotten how much better bonafide snow's are vs. all-season's.
Yea I'm not happy with them either, truck was in 4 high and getting stuck 6" of snow in the parking lots. I'm probably going to go with the Ascents.

True winter tires will have the "three peaks/snowflake" logo on them. I ran BFG Trail Terrain T/A for years and they were excellent in the snow. Very sure footed. 60k/mi warranty. That's what I'll switch to when the stock tires wear out.
Stock size:
I'm in the northern Indiana 'lake effect' area. I have always run dedicated snow tires on my Audis and the wife's Lexus. I have had Michelin X-ice, Blizzaks, and Nokians. Nokians are the best, by a wide margin.

I recently bought a 2021 Ram and was fully prepared to start shopping for wheels and snow tires. Truck has fairly new BFG Trail Terrain T/As on it and they are amazing. I picked it up last Friday and since then we've had well over a foot of snow and several days of 30+MPH wind. My morning drives to work on rural roads consists of busting through large drifts. I guess I start work earlier than our county snow plow drivers. By the time I come home, the plows have scraped the roads down to glare ice. Driving in 4Auto, it's been no problem.

The BFG Trail Terrain T/As have the 3-Peak Mountain Snowflake symbol, designating them as 'severe snow service-rated'. That just means they met some minimum standard for light snow acceleration traction. While I'm sure a set of Nokians would make the truck even better, especially in stopping and lateral grip, the BFGs are good enough for me.

💯%...you will LOVE them!
I've never loved big snow in Wisconsin as much as this year with the Ascents!

Cannot endorse the Goodyear DuraTracs.

They were absolute monsters in the powdery deep stuff - best I’ve ever run.

But on ice and snowpack - which is 90% of what people drive on - they were like greasy rocks.
