Won't remote start if < 1/4 tank of fuel. Is this adjustable?

Like in AlphaOBD or someplace? Because it's pretty stupid that I can't do a remote start when I have > 70 miles of range left.
I'm guessing some genius software engineer decided that 1/4 tank is when the low fule light should come on, and then another genius software engineer decided that if the low fuel light is on, it shouldn't remote start.
And then a not-genius-software-engineer (i.e. ME) comes along and wants to change it.

Dammit. Now I wish I had the 33G tank.
I have the 33G tank and it's still annoying. I've had it refuse to remote start when it's reading 90+ miles left (which is realistically more than 100 to go).

Same. I have the 33g tank and my light comes on at 1/4 tank. If I drive it to 0 miles range remaining and then fill up, I’ve never been able to put more than 26/27 gallons in the tank. That means my light is really going off with over 140 miles of range or at 8-10 gallons remaining. I just don’t find that useful.

Our 2020 Limited (33g tank) will remote start until the low fuel light comes on. At that point there’s like 50 miles on the DTE. What year is your truck?

Same here, 2024 Limited with 33 gal tank, light comes on with 50 miles left to go and remote start won’t work.

Also at this point it usually takes 28 gal to fill it. With an average mpg of 18.5 I really have more like 90 miles until it’s truly empty.

Almost every vehicle with remote start has this same low fuel limitation so that you don’t strand yourself.

Mine is a 25. I get that remote start won’t work once you are low on fuel. My point is that when my truck tells me I’m low on fuel, I’m not even close. I actually have about 8-10 gallons remaining. So I have a 33 gallon tank, but my truck acts like it’s a 26.

I've never encountered it before - likely because the threshold is much lower than 1/4 tank.
The limitation makes sense, but at 1/8 or 1/16 of a tank, not 1/4 tank.

My 22 w/33 will not remote start even though the gas light is not illuminated. Albeit I am "low" on gas sub 1/4 tank and have seen it do it even with 140 miles left. Its odd because I have had 4 other ram 1500's, 3x durangos, 3x jgc and a charger all start until the actual light illuminates. And all of them would have a message on the cluster indicating why the remote start was cancelled, now with the 22 1500 I do not even get a message, so at times it makes me concerned it was something else but after seeing so many others reporting the same it must be how they designed it, faulty imo.

Gas tank capacity can vary by 2 gallons, in manufacturing, but the remote start should work, until it says 50 miles to empty. If your gauge is reading empty, with 8 gallons left, the sending unit isn't reading properly. A normal empty reading, should have only about 2 gallons, because it's impossible for the fuel pickup to run the tank dry.

I've put 25 gallons in my 26 gallon tank.

When I'm at 1/4 tank it says about 70-80 miles to empty, and then I can't remote start. That's why this is to annoying. I'd be ok with the light coming on, and then no remote start, if range was < 50 miles. That would be better than 1/4 tank.

Seems to me that your solution is to keep your fuel level above 1/4 tank if you want to be able to remote start it. In the grand scheme of things it’s a pretty insignificant problem IMO. I didn’t even own a vehicle with remote start until about 2012. Shocking I know, but people have been surviving for over 100 years without remote start. Be glad you don’t live where it’s illegal to even use remote start.

Yep. That is the simple solution in this case.

Next question: For the automatic cruise control following distance, how can I increase the max following distance .....

(ok I'll show myself out)

Hang a cardboard cutout of a car 50' off your front bumper. Wait. Don't do that.

I haven't read anything about how to increase it beyond the max setting using the switch on the steering wheel.

Me neither. The 1.5-second max following distance is too close for my taste.
