2026 Ram 1500 REV Limited Caught Testing Ahead of Launch

'
You might be right, but I don't care about the portions of the tail lights that wrap into the tailgate. If the structure is the same, which I'm pretty sure it is, and the new electrical architecture is designed for the same sensors & latches as are in the original MFT, I'm thinking there is a possibility it will work. Of course I realize it might not work, but for me losing the MFT is a deal-breaker - I would just keep my 2020 Laramie Longhorn EcoDiesel and buy a standalone generator for the house. I'd definitely prefer the EREV truck, but at my age and with my lower-back & knee issues, I can't live without the MFT.
.
I agree about how useful the MFT is. Our current 2020 Limited has both the Rambox and MFT. It’s a great combination, especially for old guys lol.

As far as swapping goes, I have no doubt that the MFT will fit the opening. But the latches are different for sure, just like with the current 1500. I have no idea about the electrical aspect of such a swap. I’m sure it could be done. Just not sure what it will take to do.

Yeah, I'm really hoping the EREV truck will have MFT (multi-function tailgate) as an option. But in case not, I'm prepared to buy the Ram EREV in the same color as my current 2020 truck with MFT and swap out the tailgates before I sell the 2020. I know a Ram dealership mechanic, before I do the swap (if it's even necessary) I'll ask him if a non-MFT truck can accept and MFT and have the MFT still function as intended (i.e. electrical architecture issues).
.

Maybe, if they intend to offer the MFT in a year or two, like they did with the DT, the wiring will already be there.

Can you provide the link to the TFL video you're referring to? Thanks!

Here is the video where the guy says there are about 200 REVs out testing and he saw one on the way to the autoshow.

On the video i just posted from TFL Truck, they say the lower trim levels wont have the same tail lights as what is shown on the REV in the video, so I would imagine the MFT will be available and you just wont get the tail light extensions. Simple enough fix. It wont require anything new as they already have the 2 different tail gates (Ram head on the MFT and "RAM" on the regular) and will have the different tail lights.

I watched the first part of the video where they were discussing Ram trucks, and just kind of skimmed the rest of the video because I didn't have an hour to kill watching the whole thing. I didn't see where they talked about the tail lights though. In what part of the video do they talk about that. I wouldn't be surprised that the tail lights on the Tradesman will be different that those on the Tungsten. That's how the 1500's have been for years. But it's a matter of LED versus incandescent, not shape. I would be surprised if all 1500 REV's don't have the same shaped tail lights.

Another thing about that video is they are pushing misinformation about etorque. They claim that etorque simplifies things because there is no main starter with etorque. Which is incorrect. There is a main starter as well as the motor/generator unit on the 5.7 with etorque. Neither of the guys in the video work for Stellantis or Ram so I would take what they say with a grain of salt.

While it's fun to speculate, and I really want it to be an option because I'm a fan of the MFT, there is nothing in any video or article I've read about the 1500 REV that makes me think they will offer the MFT on that truck. But since it's still not in production there would theoretically be time for them to change that.
