Hello Everyone,
I am looking into purchasing different rims and a little bigger tires for my 2022 RAM 1500 Limited. From what I have read, you need a tool that will program the computer to the new tire size specifications.

My questions are: which tool should I buy if I want to DIY? or does it cost the same to have the dealer or a mechanic do it?

From my understanding about the TPMS Sensors, I just have to drive 15-20mins at freeway speed, correct?

Has anyone done this before? If so, please let me know which tool you used, which TPMS sensors to buy, and any tips and pointers for this project. Thank you

I use Jscan app, an obd2 bluetooth adaptor, and a fca obd2 security bypass cable. The setup with everything including the software license was like $70. Allows many setting to be changed, used it to recalibrate tire size. For sensors I purchased an Autel programming tool and use their sensors. I can recommend the Autel brand. Truck will autolearn the new sensors within a mile or two.

If you have an Android-based phone/tablet, then you can use the AlphaOBD program, a security bypass cable, and an OBD2 Bluetooth adaptor. You will have all the necessary equipment to make adjustments for the tire size and other settings. I bought the recommended OBD2 adaptor that is recommended by the maker of the AlphaOBD software. So far, it has been able to make/add functions to my truck as I have desired. It does take a bit of learning/research on how to make changes. The first thing you will need to learn and do is to make a backup of your settings before making any changes. Forums and YouTube are good sources for your research/learning.

I dont think you can go wrong with Jscan or AlphaOBD. My understanding is Jscan is a bit more user friendly and much cheaper for a license which is why I went that route.

This video has everything you need and all the instructions. Also in the video description there are links for the items needed.
