Hi,
So I had the camshaft go bad in my 5.7 and had a local mechanic rebuild the engine. He replaced the necessary parts to make the engine run on 8 cylinders all the time instead of switching from 4 to 8. To do this, he sent the computer off to have it reprogrammed. I get my truck back and it started randomly getting a no bus message along with all the lights on the dash going off. Sometimes, I'd take 3 or 4 trips before it'd happen with no problems. The truck would still run, though on a couple of occasions it would not turn off until the computer reset. I've also come out to it and the computer will be locked up. Nothing will turn on except ram logo on dash. Wait about 5-10 minutes and it will reset, start and go with no issues. I sent the truck back to him and he had it for a week. The first day the truck did the same thing it did to me and then the rest of the week he couldn't get it to do it again. Got it back to day and it did it first thing after about a 15 minute drive. Any suggestions on what may be causing this?
