Drivetrain Concerns

Hello All,

Only my second post but wanted to reach out to the site for some wisdom. I just pulled the trigger on new wheels and tires from Custom Offset. Went with 22x10 Hardrock Destroyers with 33x12.5 Cosmo Mud Kicker. My main concern is the weight of the setup. It’s twice as heavy as the factory wheel and tires I have now with a 2” leveling kit.

22 Ram Quad Cab - 5.7 Big Horn with 3.21 GR in the rear end. Should I be concerned with drivetrain components going heavier on the front end? Any feedback is greatly appreciated

drivetrain itself should be fine.
if you run aggressive negative offset then you may/ can/ potentially will premature wear your bearings.
if you run mild offsets then you should be fine.

Thanks for the input. I went into this knowing I could wear out the bearings faster but I was just hoping the mopar 8spd transmission will hold up driving with larger wheels and tires. I haven’t installed them yet so we will see.

There is absolutely no way your new wheels and tires are twice as heavy as the factory set up. They would have to be over 100lbs per corner.

yeah you'll be okay. the 8spd can handle it.

I mean the bill of lading said 497lbs which includes the install kit and wooden pallet they came on so minus 20-30lbs maybe. They are all the way 100lbs plus each.

There is no way each wheel/tire is 100lbs. I looked it up and the wheels are 45lba each. Tires don't weigh 60+ lbs

Tires are cosmo mud kickers 33x12.5R22s. Cosmo has them listed at 61lbs each.

I couldn't find the weight for the tires, even on Cosmo website. Granted, you already ordered them, based on price I'm sure, but might have been better off getting a lighter tire.

H*ll, my "fairly lightweight" Fuel Variants (20x9) at 29.8lbs and 285/60R20 Bridgestone Dueler AT Ascents still hit the scales at 84lbs.

Just throwing this out there my wheels apparently weigh 31 pounds each, and my tires are 62 pounds. So definitely in the realm of possibility to hit 100 pounds.

you'd be surprised... if i get a set for myself the price won't be deep pocket purchase at all... can't say how much but lets just say... massive, massive discounts that is quite on par with some other "everyday" options out there.
but again, that would me... this truck ain't seeing dirt anymore LOL it's more of a "im not disrespecting my wheels by f*cking them up and I don't want to deal with fixing them"

Falken Wildpeak AT4W 285/65 w/ KMC Technic 20X9 shows 104lbs You'll be fine. I'm running 3.21, but I do have the Edge Pulsar and a throttle controller which I highly suggest for the lag.
