I've never pulled a trailer with mine but I use tow/haul all the time. On easy uphills it stops hunting between gears. On downgrades it does more compression braking. In no way does it interfere with top speed or lock out any gears.
Yes, auto mode does that for 2025's as well, and you never have to worry about it. My 2023 5,7 Ram I always put in tow mode when I pulled any type of trailer, no matter. It tells us in the OM to do that on the 2023. The 2025 just leave it in auto mode all the time unless of course you need the other modes for special conditions or want to go to sport mode a little when you have a heavy foot and want to change shift points.
