Oddly optioned trucks

I want to hear about what weird options everyones trucks have. Either customer built at the dealer or prebuilt off the lot new or used. I have a 2020 quad cab bighorn level 2 2wd, originally a enterprise fleet vehicle. My truck came equipped with front and rear park sensors, auto climate, heated seats and wheel,8.4 non-nav, base 6 speaker non subwoofer sound system, halogen lights, limited slip 3.21 rear diff and telematics delete.

My truck is very conventionally optioned but while shopping I came across a couple of weird Laramies at one dealership. Both were dark blue but one had 3.92 gear, 26 gal tank and no hitch receiver and the other 3.21 gear, 33 gal tank, and a receiver. I asked the salesman what they were doing and he had no idea what I was talking about.

Not sure how common some options are. My 21 Ram QC Bighorn 5.7 non ee-tq, 4x4, 3:92, came with 8.4 radio, base. Heated seats, wheel. Front and Rear parking sensors, auto brake, auto e brake. Self dimming mirror, auto climate, electric adjustable pedals, tow package, trailer steering, trailer tpms in display, 7 inch evic, had in settings drl on or off option, remote start. Night edition, bed lights, mopar oem tonneau, mopar molded floor matts, trying to think of everything. I was going for close to max towing is 11,500, to get higher would need e-tq which I did not want), but has plenty of options for me, tows my 7k pound trailer great, could easily handle more. 2 things I wish it had, 360 camera's and I only have the 26 gallon tank. Otherwise very happy with the Ram.

I’ll play along. Just look at my sig to see the options on our 2020 Limited. It took 6 months for our dealership to find this truck and do a dealer trade. In the end it would have been quicker to just order it this way but we didn’t know that when we first started looking. The hardest thing to match was the non-etorque Hemi and 33 gallon tank combined with the rambox and MFT options.

You have to realize some things you may consider weird or odd for options and packages are "normal" for other parts of the country. Where I live in Nebraska, finding a 2wd RAM would be "weird" for an option as it's not a desired configuration. Where as you get to places where there's not a lot of snow like say Texas, and they are more prevalent. most of the time, the dealer inventory is just what they get delivered. Most dealers can't even tell you the full option list for incoming trucks until they roll off the transport at the dealership.

And with the way they have the options bundled in packages, the days of the 1 of 1 optioned vehicle where every available option can be added, or deleted, ala cart style are long gone.

Nothing special here, just a basic Bighorn Sport quad cab without e-torque. I did have the dealer swap out the 20 inch chrome clad wheels it came with for some painted 18 inch alloys from what I guess was a Tradesman. I have only seen one other Ram with these rims on the road

When I was looking at rams here in SFL I was shocked at the number that had a hemi and only 7500 towing capacity. Looking used for a low mileage 5.7, 4wd, 392s, 6.5 bed, 33 gal and moon roof. Found exactly 1 in 100s I searched through.
Test drove it and liked it but held out on the deal. I had driven a newer lower mile rebel with only 5-7 bed and 23 gallon tank but loaded like a limited. I went back to that one and made an offer 7k less then their best and they took it so now I have the rebel.

With the **** gas mileage in these hemis even a 26 gallon tank seems small.
I was spoiled by the 36 gallon tank in my ford and consistent 700 mile range on the highway with a heavy foot!

With my other trucks being Dakotas with 5.9 V8s and 22 gallon tanks, a 26 gallon tank in my Hemi is great. Don't really need any longer range.

I wouldn't call mine oddly optioned but instead I'd call it one of the better optioned trucks. Mine is a 2025 Hydro Blue Ram Rebel with monotone paint, luxury red/black leather interior, advanced safety group 2, technology group, 33 gallon gas tank, air suspension, bed utility group, tri fold tonneau cover, sunroof, black side steps, trailer brake control, Rebel level 2 equipment group.

I bought my Laramie off the lot. It has 3.21 gear and 33 gal tank. Is that not common? I'm in NJ.

One thing odd, it had alpine system with 8.4, but sat radio deleted, had optional navigation, but no puck/sharkfin on roof. Even Ram dealership couldn't tell me where antenna was for Nav, but nav worked perfect and I installed newer 8.4 radio to get HD radio and sat radio even worked fine. Not sure why they add those sharkfins or pucks on top when wasn't needed. I was told reason sat radio was deleted, was Hawaii doesn't get reception, but that was in 2015, so I have no idea if is same now.

At the time (Jan/Feb 2021) I was looking for a used 2019 or 2020 Laramie with Advance Safety Group, because I had been previously spoiled with Adaptive Cruise, which I'd come to really love during my regular highway driving. At that time any trim level with ASG was pretty hard to find, except Limiteds. I got the dealer to pay for Power Running Boards and off I went. And I love this truck still after many many miles.

Radio antenna is in the rear window. The "puck" was only for sat radio. Nav antenna was probably in the dash above radio.

I special ordered my last 3 rams because I could never find what I wanted on a lot even with a nationwide search. Starting out woth a CC and 6'4" box means probably 95% of dealer lot trucks don't match. Add 6 pass seating to the mix and it narrows even further. Then add my preferred paint color so I can move my topper and the other options I wanted and everytime I came up with 0 avail in a nationwide search. I did find the truck I wanted in 2019 and did a dealer trade but for my 21 and 23 when I wanted 6 pass seating I had to order. For my 25 I went back to bucket seats so I could get the wireless charger but then with ASG2 I again had to order.

23' Laramie, level B, 3.92, off road group, standard 18" wheels, advanced safety group & a bench seat I'd say is pretty odd. Couldnt find any, new or used in any color with this combination & had to special order.

I ordered my 2022 4x4 Big Horn truck, crew cab, 6'4" bed, Level "B" package, and ORG with the 3.6 and 3:21 gears. Haven't seen any others with this configuration, in fact you can't even order the 3.6 in a crew cab 6'4" bed any longer. The truck does exactly what I expected it to do. It will get 22-23 MPG on my trips to the 180 mile each way trips back and forth to the Eastern Shore of Maryland. It tows my 17' aluminum boat to ramp and landscape trailer when needed.

Edit: Oh yea, forgot the 33 gal tank that give me 700+ mile range.

My 19' Tradesman came with those top ones. They aren't anything special but your right, you don't see them often it seems.
