I requested a transmission service (not fluid exchange only) at 84k miles which I was told would include replacement of the transmission pan and it would cost in the region of $1000. This was done at the dealer on Wednesday,
I don’t see a charge for the pan…
And… is it normal for the transmission to still shift rough 3 days later? I don’t think so. No issues before. I felt it the moment I left the dealership.
It’ll clunk selecting R when cold and hesitate while shifting into the next gear. It’s like it doesn’t quite know how to shift , slight hesitation and retards power while shifting so it feels like it’s slipping.
While cruising at 75 when shifting down to maintain speed it makes a loud clunk I can feel.

Just got under and took a pic… they did not replace it.IMG_1974.jpeg
I’m smelling oil as well after a long drive. It has a distinct smell.

I’m amazed that they would hand over a vehicle that shifts as it does.
It’s supposed to shift normal/better immediately after service, correct?

Definately looks like a flush/exchange, especially with the addition of the BG6600 "snake oil". Would not be a happy camper if they put that in mine.

that BG chemical is actually a great chemical that does actually work well.. but i agree the pan wasn't dropped..

It slipped so bad in the lower gears this morning it almost stalled. I immediately drove to the dealer, dropped it back off.
They tell me ‘the oil level is probably low’, I said that’s why the transmission is running hotter as well then.
Service advisor tells me they don’t drop the pan… I said at 85k miles?
Just like you told me 91 octane is ‘too rich’ for these?
I’m not a fool I said.
Have had no update, pickup is still there.

imo you go ripped off.

Im wondering with the BG6600, if they did a flush. I would bet they did. Could have loosened up some material and filled up your valve body with crap and hence the ****ty shifting. They should have used the Mopar fluid, or ZF fluid, not some generic "compatible" fluid that is supposedly compatible with every transmission out there. Hopefully a new pan, with a proper drain and fill will fix everything.

Why would anyone do fluid and NOT change the filter. I definitely would be ripping them a new one on that alone, not including issues.

BecJse that's just what most shops do. Less work, less time means they can get more vehicles through and make more money

They definitely did exactly what you asked them not to do. If they try and make you pay for any "repairs", refuse to pay and ask to talk to service manager.

I hate hearing stories like this. I have real trust issues letting anyone else work on my vehicles and unless it's under warranty, I do everything myself.
