Slow Hemi :(

It’s like the 1980’s all over again. Remember the Buick Grand National and even better the GNX? With a turbo V6 they annihilated everything on the road even the Corvette. Drove them nuts. Good times.😎
Yes. I had 2 GNs back in the day. They made a lot of folks mad. And yes, I should have never sold them. With that said, those cars spent their far share of time getting worked on at the dealer. The 6/60 powertrain warranty was used quite a bit.

I'd bet that was transmission or egr issues, not the engine itself. Everyone one I knew back then that had GN's or GNX's had trans issues. That 200R4 was trash

Hmm, Can the Op post your times? Have a LOT to say on this subject. Way beforet he days of Hemifever and good tuners, I did drag race 101 on my truck, 2003 5.7 3.92s short bed std cab. All times were recorded @ Houston Raceway outside of Baytown, TX (RIP). Truck would run 15:60s New. Got it to 13:80s with Just the following Mods: removed Hemi Hat ( heat soaked, High IATs) Home Depot CAI w/ Amsoil dry Cone filter,
Superchips Tuner, I know but NOTHING else available ( got one of the first in Texas ),
Removed tow frame and installed roll pan, Thankx F150 but that's another story,
Leveled the truck
Installed 28 inch 17s, 20s weighed in almost 90#s each, 17s on aluminum wheels were 44#s
Battery in bed
Drag shocks ( Modified Chev units)
Torque Management Mod
Engine leash
Home made traction device (reverse pinion snubber)
Full Stock Exhaust, still to this day oil pan, valve covers, and the Intake Manifold have Never been off.
Ran 13:90 on street tires 13:80s on the slicks
All of this was Documented on Dodge Truck World before it went down Also RIP, That resurrection did not succeed.
This is getting too long, race prep, before I leave:
Remove Tail Gate and spare, remove front sway bar bushings and leave bar, conserve time and work. Race weight was 4720 with me in it (avg),
W/ 1/4 tank of fuel. Those times were @ -600 density altitude.
As I am out of state I will attemt to find the pics when I get home.

Found A few on my phone,
