Looking at a '23 Rebel.

I live in Ontario Canada: home of terrible roads, and more salt in the winter than you can imagine.

Does it make any sense to rust proof a 18month old truck?

Do Rams rust out underneath easily moderately or hold up well?

Yes, clean it up really good under the truck , I use Fluid film , I am in Minnesota so we have a ton of salt dumped on the roads hear also.

Thanks...and in general how do the Gen 5's hold up?

Like if you go bone stock i.e. no rust proofing whatsoever?

Yes, do it as soon as possible. I'm across the pond from you and rust proof all my vehicles. I suggest rp342 (cosmoline). Stuff is bullet proof.

We recently picked up a used 2022 and will be oil-based undercoating it shortly.

The only real "rusty" spots are the rear diff, which is just surface rust. Seems like in 2022 they changed how it was coated from the factory and they all seem to surface rust pretty easily. Every 2022+ used truck we looked at had surface rust on the diffs no matter how few miles. 2021 and earlier looked much better, even with twice the miles.

My 2017 bought brand new Ive undercoated every year since. It now has a wonderful layer of oil and grime, but if you blast through it with a pressure washer it looks factory new underneath. I will do the same with our 2022 for a while.

mine is a 2019 bought last year it looked very clean underneath the truck , Dodge did a good job of treating them ,

Ok thanks my one friend say Fords are the worst for rust: get it fully treated on day 1 otherwise expect the worst.

He's a GM guy so I'm always skeptical about other brand fan boys tossing brands under the bus...
