I've got a 2020 Ram 1500 North Edition with standard running boards. A couple weeks ago, I went to stand on the far back end of it to hook a strap in the bed from the side and felt the running board give a little. Looks like they might be starting to rust a bit so I'm thinking of replacement. How hard or easy is it to do? I'm not much for DIY - certainly no mechanic or anything. I can change the oil itself and whatnot but I don't have a ton of auto tools-specific so not quite sure how feasible it is. My biggest thought is rust on the existing nuts and bolts - needing an impact wrench/driver or whatever to deal with that. Any tips/suggestions?

those are bolted to the body. just a spanner or a socket with some elbow grease should come off easily. if there's rust on the existing nuts and bolts then spray some penetrating oil or WD-40 and it should come out just fine.

i've been using these as offroad protection and as "steps" when needed. Works fine even though I did not buy the top plate option. These are bolted to the frame.
