Back into a Ram

The Gladiator was not my wisest financial decision

Just curious, what in particular did you like and dislike about your Gladiator compared to your Rams?

The Gladiator was not my wisest financial decision

I came pretty close to trading in my Rebel on a Gladiator several months ago, specifically when they were throwing $15K off MSRP or more, but then after looking at the two, my Rebel and the Gladiator side by side on the dealer lot, I realized to myself "what was I doing!!!"

It was that itch I get every few years for something new, luckily I came to my senses. I'm not slagging the Gladiator, nice vehicle, it would make sense for a certain buyer, but I really wasn't that person.

I guess the ruggedness and nimbleness were likes. Dislikes were probably underpowered, tiny bed, small cab. Thought I’d do some 4 wheeling with the Gladiator but never did, live and learn. I’m a full-size truck guy, so it was a bit of an adjustment.

I did a stupid thing back in '22. We finally traded our 36' 5th wheel for a 24' travel trailer. I traded a great 2018 3500 CTD for a '22 Gladiator. Common sense doesn't always come with old age, I've learned. I have a '21 Big Horn now with 3.92's, and I'm fighting the urge to trade it for a '22 3500 Laramie 6.4 with 34,××× miles on it. 🤷‍♂️

Get what you want if you can. No regrets!!!!

What do you mean it doesn't come with age? Why since 2019 I've only bought/traded 3 new and 1 used vehicles, adding up to nearly $195K in depreciating assets. Isn't that using com, uhh wait, guess not...😮😬🙄

Since I'm retired and on a fixed income, I don't have the funds to pay cash. At 67, I have to look at how much longer do I want to keep making truck payments. Oh well, my soap box.
67! You’re still a young buck buddy. Live happy man. Obviously be responsible but enjoy life to the fullest.

I can relate to many of your experiences. Traded a 19 1 ton RAM dually Laramie in 22 for a Wagoneer. Didn’t need the truck to haul my 5th wheel anymore. Trade in worked out great.

Fast forward to 2025. Decided to trade Wagoneer on a 25 Laramie 1500. Took a huge bath on the value of the Wagoneer. Depreciation was brutal.

Life is short. I love trucks and motorcycles. Live the best life you can I guess. It helps to have an understanding wife!!!

Your so right, life is short, and getting shorter. Under the right circumstances, I would get back into a 2018 CTD and put it on a diet. Once you live the diesel life, it's hard to be humble with a gas truck. I like my 5.7, but it's not a CTD.
