School me on this …. my 2025 1500 Laramie has a listed towing capacity of 11,550lbs. What does this mean for actual weight of items towed?

Currently, I use it for towing my track car in a Futura trailer. Total weight is about 5200lbs.

However, I’m considering going to an enclosed trailer. With car and tools, I’ll probably close in on 7500lbs. Trying to decide if that is too much for the 1500 in the real world.

Once you go enclosed you’re no longer pulling a trailer, but a parachute.

The engine works harder to pull even the same weight.

But, I’d bet it’s fine from a drivetrain perspective. I’d just monitor temps closely, as boost creates heat. If things get warm, use the transmission gear selector to keep RPMs up and boost down.

But it’s certainly possible you won’t have any temp issues, depending on many things.
