On my 2025 1500 Laramie, when I plug a jack into the 4 pin rear outlet the system believes there is a trailer and shuts off the rear sensors. Is there a workaround for this? Or, failing that, if I tap into the brake/running lines feeding one of the brake lights, will it trigger the sensors to off or not.
Thanks

Tha

this is confusing to me, what are you doing with the 4 pin? are you plugging in a trailer harness? If so, you want the sensors off....if not, what are you plugging in?

Probably one of those brake lights that fits the receiver hitch or the led"s that run under the tailgate. 🤔

You should get the bed light wired in properly, it's a 2 wire setup, not a 4-pin. It's fooling your ECM thinking you have a trailer.

I have a canopy on my 2024 and I wired in my brake light myself after some pretty good research online.

The wiring diagram/searches online for my truck, I learned RAM in the harness by the spare tire puts an extra brake wire specifically for this purpose, it's wrapped in the bundle. Splice that in with solder with a quick disconnect inside the canopy in future incase you need to remove and keep it OEM. This way you aren't splicing/cutting into anything factory or making any permanent mods to the electrical systems.

I can provide pics if you'd like of what I did. :)

Thanks for your reply. I wired my 2017 as you suggest and yes, it worked well. My new light however is also wired for running lights, and so the 4 pin socket would give me both the brake and running. I suppose I may have to accept that the running light can't be enabled

can't you just turn on and off the backup sensors from the button control by the radio? On my 19, I have to turn off the backup sensors when I hook up my trailer, so I have complete control of whether they are on or off. Is the 2025 different?

That does not work. I have an OPT7 sequential light bar plugged into a Curt to covert the 7-pin to 4-pin and whether the rear park sensor is on or off I get warnings to watch my “ghost” trailer and warning the trailer connection is at issue.
