So. Today doing some routine maintenance - I noticed my oil pan was totally rusting away I rust proof yearly and something went bad this winter. Brought to dealer and they confirmed that the pan had almost corroded through in one small pencil eraser sized area and was oozing oil / which I noticed. There is something seriously wrong with these oil
Pans / well at least the 19/20’s. so all you rust belt / northern US / CDN owners keep an eye. Last year zero rust. Now this spring almost ate through….

Luckily it’s a warranty item. My truck is pushing 5 years and has 60k miles.

Checked mine the other day. Almost 3 years in Wisconsin and pan still looks like new.

Sucks they had a few years where that happened. Wondering if bad metal, bad paint or both. That’s ridiculous and should never happen. They should have a recall and repair all affected years for free.

Mine was in bad shape as well, cleaned it up as best I could and sprayed over it again. Might just need a new pan at some point.

I cannot believe Ram has so much trouble with the basics. Like how do you screw up something as straightforward as an oil pan, it's beyond me. This isn't exactly new tech.

Silver lining, at least its serviceable and we keep an eye on it.

My 2020 looks fine. Been through several winters.

This is on-going issue with 2019 models that RAM missed coating the oil pans. Mine was discovered at an oil change completely covered with rust at 57,000 miles.

So off to see the dealer. They had seen all lot of them and I was told they will only replace the oil pan if the rust causes a leak.

Great answer for the company using non-treated oil pans that started rusting on the lot.

I wire brushed it and painted it with POR-15. So far it is still holding oil….

2019 with 75k in Ohio.

My oil pan looks like it's been on the truck for 30 winters. ill be replacing soon for piece of mind.

This happened to my 2013 HEMI. I was out of warranty, and the MaxCare didn't cover it. $1,000 to replace plus another $80 for a wheel alignment because they had to mess with the front axle to get the oil pan out.
