8HP75 Transmission Service

Anyone had their dealer perform a fluid and filter change on their 8 SPD yet? (I know it’s “lifetime fluid”) but I am approaching 60k and would like to do it. I have read the procedure from the service manual and definitely not something I want to attempt to do myself. Looking for some feedback on the cost and dealer experience. Thanks
I'm thinking about measuring the fluid I drain out replace the pan & filter with one from the dealer and adding the exact amount of Ram ZF fluid back in. I'm not sure about trying to refill it with the truck running and in gear and waiting for the correct temperature.

It doesn't take long for transmission to warm up once you start the truck. You will add fluid, with engine off, until it drops out fill hole, before starting the truck so there is some fluid in the pan to circulate Also, if you are replacing the pan/filter, there will be some fluid that you just can't measure. There is a full procedure for a reason. Something as important, and expensive, as a transmission, I wouldn't mess around with guess work.

And you fill with truck in park not in gear.

What temperature was the transmission at when you put the plug back in, and did you wait until the fluid started to drip individual drops or just a slow stream?

I think by the time it was all said and done, trans fluid was at the high end of the temp range for the fill orocedure. And there really isn't an easy way to fill until it just starts to drip. It was running out. Let it go until it was just dripping. Pro tip, make sure to put the fill plug back in before you turn the truck off, or more fluid will run out once you shut truck off and the trans pump stops

That's solid advice lol. For the final leveling step after you complete the shift procedure then just let the fluid drain in the window, I find the shifts are smoother when you let it drain until it's in the upper part of the range, 110-115*. I just never know if you're supposed to let it drain until it drips or if a slow stream is ok.
