So the rear glass frame had 2 cracks and that was leaking and replaced. Headliner stained and light was leaking.

When I removed it, the gasket was toast. Cleaned off all the old glue (used a dish sponge with the rough end and a cloth, kept both wet with xylene bit found that acetone worked best and smells a lot less). Once cleaned, I applied a nice rope bead of plumbers putty. Put it all back, tightened it up, and it leaked, LOL The plumber putty would work but it is so pliable, it dipped down as the light was being seated so there was an opening at the top (unsealed) and it allowed water through. Took it off and was going to apply a seal and peel removable caulk but instead decided on a rubber weatherstripping that I grabbed from Depot for like $10 Canadian.

Nice and fat, did a water test and no leak with a hose blasting away.
Hope this healps anyone with the same issue.

That marine gasket is the route I always recommend when someone on here mention going into service to have the cargo lamp recall done just to get another lamp with the same style foam tape gasket that will eventually hold water and leak again.

I did that weather seal, ran with it for a while, ended up ordering a new light with the improved gasket, major difference compared to the original.

I repair automotive water leaks for a living. The newest third brake assembly has an updated gasket that works and is now only 35.00 . The rear window should be sealed with the tsb adhesive that is out. If surface is prepped properly it works very well. Never see shark fin leaks. Fix it quick before electrical components under the rear glass get destroyed.

My work area is Northern Virginia . Fairfax Woodbridge Manassas if anyone needs help
