Hey folks. I'm a week away from receiving my 2025 tradesman quad cab and I'm getting dizzy looking at covers online. A little background. Had the original solid fold on my Silverado for 15 years and it was a tank. Not sure how the new 2.0 is. One review on YouTube and not very encouraging. I'm interested in a hard trifold. But there seems to be as many bad reviews as good. So I'm dying for some recommendations. A little long term use would be nice to. I'm really, really open to suggestions. Any help would be so appreciated. Thanks for any advice and have a great day

I've been satisfied with the Lomax trifold cover that's been on the truck since new. Easy installation. Easy removal when needed. It isn't totally waterproof, I don't know of many that are to be truthful.

My vote is for the BakFlip MX4. The best for my RamBox bed. Easy to install and open/close.

Check out Lomax as well.

FYI

Some experience
Extang Snap - no longer produced, throw back in time, maintain with 303 and will last, cover warranty 10 years and that is how long the cover lasts with minimal maintenance on the street. Have it on my 2001 still (2nd cover) and bought it for my 2019 while I tried to figure out the advantages and disadvantages of the various covers. Not for the highbrows and nose in the air type. Has served me well for 24+ years and it didn't leak in the 2001 Dodge Ram. Past due on ordering the 2nd replacement cover.

Lomax - good but need to take off and put somewhere if you need full bed access, easy enough to remove, nice profile.

Diamond Back - I guess as good as it gets for securing items in the bed. 1600 or 400 lbs. pounds on top of cover spread out, limits bed access, $$$$. Try to buy used, they are discounted pretty good usually, currently a 400 lb rated cover for $1100 on ebay on a 5' 7" bed. Love it in winter for cleaning off the snow, washing and waxing the roof. Bought it when I wanted to spend some of my 3 son's inheritance and leave my tools in the bed while in my driveway.

MX 4 - fills a lot of sweet spots, but rests on the back window. I avoid putting it against the window considering all the problems there are with leaking windows. Currently in use.

This should be read. Nod goes to ultra flex, although I prefer the finish on the Bak Flip MX4 but it doesn't rest on back window.

And this is a good looking roll up cover, seemed some commented on winter weather problems.

Best of luck in your decision.

Lucas Kylie at Truck Alterations was very informative 5 years ago when I was doing some homework, not sure of his current status.

I had a 2020 Limited with a multi-function tailgate. I had a Weather-Tech Tri-Fold hard tonneau that worked perfectly and kept everything in the bed dry, as I always have a bed rug in all my trucks. I had to change out the OEM bed braces for Right-On Brackets to work with the multi-function tailgate, but it worked great. I now have a 2025 Limited with the Mopar tri-fold (with Ram Boxes and a multi-function tailgate), and it works perfectly. That is my experience.

Great stuff. Thanks much

Kind of narrowed it down to 3. Haven't really needed the full bed much the last few years so even 2/3rds would work for the most part or just take it off. Considering the Lomax, BakFlip MX4, and the Undercover Armor Flex. Anymore more advice greatly appreciated. Thanks folks

The WeatherTech on my 2020 was the Lomax tri-fold, just rebranded with the WeatherTech Logo. It lasted 5 years without issue and looked great, but I keep my Rams in a garage at night and parked under a cover during the days, so it was not weathered as it likely would have been by another owner leaving it out in the elements. The Mopar I have is the Mopar version of the BakFlip MX4 (just rebranded with the Mopar Logo), and it is water-tight (with a weatherstripping kit from ESI Ultimate Tailgate Seal with Taper Seal Compatible with RAM with Ra), low profile, and looks great. I went with the Mopar and ESI kit for my 2025 because of the Ram Boxes; otherwise, I would have taken the WeatherTeck (Lomax) off and put it on my 2025. The bottom line is you cannot go wrong with either; there are style and appearance differences between the two, but both performed for me very well.

Been very happy with my GatorFx/BakFlip, bought it 5 years ago and on my 2nd Ram with it.

Keep in mind Bakflip isn’t the same backflip it was 5 years ago. Quality has changed and is now owned by realtruck that owns the bulk of the tonneau cover companies.

When I bought my 14 it came with a Bakflip cover was perfectly fine in those 4 years that I had the truck. 2020 came around and I bought a 5th gen wasn’t many options available as far as covers go especially with the rambox feature.. Lomax had one out and the price was way almost half the price of what Bakflips offered and had good reviews. Would have kept it till this day but once I started carrying a Jobox the end of the trifold didn’t flip up so it was a no go and the aluminum underside would get hot in the heat and burn your hand if you wasn’t careful (not a huge issue but something to be aware of). Went w/ a Retrax but sometime this year I think I’m going to switch back to either a trifold or hard roll up so I can get that space taken up by the canister back.

Installed a Paragon yesterday. Folds up to about 7". Can be locked in full, two panel and four panel configurations, and can be completely removed in about thirty seconds. It's the HDX model. Finish just seemed to blend in better with the scheme of the truck.

I have the Bakflip MX4 installed on my 1500. The only thing I don't like is that it rests against the rear of the cab when fully opened. It's not a deal breaker though.

The cover seems solid and is nice looking, in my opinion. Overall, I'm very happy with it.

Yeah, there's good and bad in all of them. Keeping in mind how one is going to use the bed should definitely be considered before a purchase. How it folds up and how much bed space is left is crucial.

The only one I would for certain rule out is one that the cab panel is stationary. Some things I haul require as much space as possible. Those have the best price points, but just won't work for me.

I love the retractable, but that canister consumed too much space. I went Paragon because I can pop it off on the fly. I'm on retainer with the with wife to immediately respond when she finds a piece of furniture to refinish. Always have to lookout for the antique bat signal. 😁

Out...

Literally 30 seconds in and out. Main reason I got this one.
