diminished value claim

got n offer for $4800 for DV from the insurance company. FYI.

I fought other drivers insurance company, Geico, for nearly a year. They acted like they never heard if DV, and are good at it. In my opinion they were very dishonnest and tried every excuse you can imagine.

Finally i took the other driver to court and Geico defended him. Judge awarded me 4k DV on 3K in damage. Had to hire DV expery to testify for 1k. Court wouldn't accept just a written report.

I came away with the solid resolve that I would never consider buying Geico insurance, even if it's free!

Interesting, in MD, if you mention DV...that's it..they are paying. Not sure why it was so difficult. I had my F350 repaired at over 30K and got another 7K in DV.

Jimmy07 seems like just aboit the smartest guy on the forum especially for electrical. He and others mention a concern about your rates going up.

Like OldMarine said above, the way DV works is your accident has to be caused by somebody else in most or all states. It is their company that pays your claim. Generally yur company will not.

So it's a nearly free shot at the goal! You have everything to gain and nothing to loose.

I got $5K last month on my DV from my insurance as it was a hit /run. Only took a few weeks to settle everything after repair. did it all myself.

then you must have identified the person that hit you, and got the settlement against THEIR insurance, you typically can't claim DV against your OWN company. mind sharing what state and what insurance company? And don't forget, if you did get a payout from your OWN insurance company, that amount will be deducted from any future settlement where the vehicle is a total-loss.

Did not ID the person who struck my vehicle. Claim goes against "uninsured motorist" coverage, which I pay a few bucks for (optional I think). I don t know if it s a pool fund within the state (TN) or my company (Liberty) pays. Thinking a hit and run falls into this category either way?
