Hey all,

I’ve had issues with my 2019 Ram 1500 DT 5th gen backup camera flickering, had it replaced twice and traced the issue since to the back of the radio unit. I’ve noticed that both the yellow and white connections have a slight wiggle and when not pressed in firmly, my backup camera will act up and flicker. (Not sure which one exactly is the feed) Any tips or ideas on how I could ensure these connectors don’t wiggle and stay firmly locked to the radio unit? Thought about zip tying or new cables etc. thanks!

The backup camera goes into the radio via the 52 pin black connector on the rear of the radio. The white fakra is your AM/FM antenna and the yellow fakra is the XM/GPS antenna. If you have a wiring issue with the back up camera you can check pins 24 Video Signal & 25 Video Common. If those are loose it can cause an issue. I'd image you have some type of damage on the line from the radio to the camera. You'd have to track it down or replace the line by running a new line from those pins to the camera.

That is a maroon fakra, typically for wifi/phone/3G. Red fakras on older units was not used for diagnostic port. Later Red fakra became digital backup camera.

Sorry but you are wrong about the maroon fakra. I plugged my unit back in with only 52 pin plug and no backup camera. As soon as I plug the maroon one in I have camera. I have a 2019 ram 5th gen just like the original poster. I am not sure where you got your info from but maybe not for the 5th gen?

I installed a new unit and been trying to get my backup camera working and tech support told me to try what I just did. Originally they told me my backup camera was compatible but after sending them the pic they said no

I don't know what radio you have as I can't see part number but the Uconnect 4 and 5s both came with maroon and red fakras. I am correct in the color of what they are intended for but it depends on the radio and year it was made to know what your unit has. 5th gens do come with digital backup cameras, either through the red fakra or to the CVPM. Analog camera goes through the 52 pin connector, pin 31 for sig and pin 32 for rtn.
