For the last couple days, I've been having issues with the front center console USB connections on my 2024 Limited (below the 12” display). When my phone is plugged in to charge, it will intermittently stop and restart charging.
At first this seemed random, but now it's a very consistent pattern where it will charge for 27 seconds before losing its charging connection, reconnect, then stop charging again 27 seconds later. I have watched this cycle happen for as long as my phone is plugged in for a couple days now, and the timing is very consistent. It occurs for both the USB-A and USB-C ports only in the front console; the rear seat ports work fine, and it occurs regardless of what cable I use. I have not noticed any other systems disconnecting/resetting.
My suspicion is that the USB Media Hub is failing and needs replacement, but the very consistent cyclical nature of the reset is really odd. Why would a failing hub reset on a very consistently timed cycle? Has anyone seen something like this before?
My truck is under warranty, but I'm considering just spending $100 on the USB hub and changing it out myself rather than leaving it with the dealer for who knows how long to diagnose and correct the issue. Anyone with experience doing this replacement, or have about suggestion before I spend the time and money?
Thanks for any help!
