Currently being tempted with some deals on the 2025s, my ‘21 Bighorn doesn’t have any trailering options, but wanted some input on towing with the 3.0 Hurricane S/O.

Not a large or heavy camper by any means, but wondering if I really want to leave the Hemi behind, MPG especially. IMG_1229.jpeg

The hurricane tows better than the hemi. This is comparing my brother in laws 2018 rebel against my 25 warlock. Mpg was similiar. I traded with him for a day when mine was brand new so i could tow my boat. Boat/trailer is roughly 4200lbs.

I'd keep the Big Horn if it were me unless you want to move up to higher trim level. Either engine will pull that with no problem. Which trailering options are you wanting to have? It's easy enough to add a trailer brake and tow mirrors or extensions to your Big Horn.

everything you need to know.....spoiler alert it got 6.7 mpg. is the hemi really worse? i don't know?

If you don't plan on getting a bigger camper, I'd say your set. We have a 26' travel trailer that my Big Horn does a great job with. My issue is I want power folding tow mirrors and I also miss my 2018 CTD that I had. It spoiled me with the ease that it did everything well. I myself am contemplating going backwards to a 2018 CTD Mega Cab with Laramie trim.

The big pretty screen is tempting, plus even though these mirrors are good for this trailer it can’t hurt to see even better. Considered adding brake control (current using Bluetooth, love/hate) but wasn’t thrilled about the cost of flashing the computer at the stealer. I’m a truck driver, so the backing assist isn’t necessary, but looks interesting.
Pretty much in the sweet spot for trade-in versus price, just can’t decide on going to a turbo charged 6.
I like the blacked out wheels on the Night Edition to match the camper…

For towing I would make sure it has 3.92 gears with either an e-locker or limited slip differential. The S/O comes with 3.55 gears standard.

On the ramtrucks.com build site the Big Horn comes with 3.21 gearing standard...

From what I'm reading on this site, wait as long as you can if you decide to go new.
Still seams to be quite a few "Bugs" to work out with the new ones as usual on a first year run.

Got pretty serious about dealing, test drive and everything, then the interest rates… Good Golly Miss Molly!

No thanks!
Yeah hopefully that's gonna keep a lot of people from buying something new if they need to finance it. Too many people take out loans they shouldn't.

We had a 2022 Laramie GT with 3.92 gears. We leased it and our credit union ran a decent rate special so we decided to purchase the truck. Apparently when you contact Ram about payoff, they contact your dealership, so we got a call. They made a great deal and got us in a 2025 Laramie with the Hurricane SO and 3.92 gears.

We tow a 26 ft camper that weighs approximately 7000 lbs when loaded. The Hemi towed it just fine. No complaints. We got our new truck in August and in September we towed our camper to a campground on Lake Michigan and kept it there for 4-5 weeks. Then towed it back in October. Its 160 miles one way.

My first impression on the way there was WOW! Plenty of power that I could feel was better than the Hemi and MPG was better as well. Probably the best experience I've had towing this camper, and I've towed it with three different trucks. The trip back saw less MPG (it was windy that day) but still impressed with power. My only concern with this engine is it's long term reliability. Will it be as reliable as the Hemi? And it lacks the personality of the Hemi.

That's my towing experience so far. Spring is right around the corner, so more opportunities soon.
