Hey all, I had a ram 5.7 w the extended tank ( a 2017 MY ) and was wondering if anyone knows if the new 3.0L I6 TT can have the bigger 33 gal tank put on, the one I just recently purchased has the 26 gal tank, not the end of the world and it goes abt 450 miles but an extra couple gallons would be nice. There's a lot of post on here about the 5.7 trucks getting the upgrade but haven't been able to search up anything to answer the same question on this new powertrain. Thanks!!

Probably gonna be awhile before you find anybody that has done it since you have a few things going against you.

-2025 still being so new most probably aren’t wrenching on their own truck just yet.

-You need software to adjust fuel tank size.. most of us 19-24 guys use AlfaOBD which I don’t think is compatible with 2025 yet.

I’m sure it can be done eventually but probably gonna have to reference part #s using parts diagrams like us 19-24 guys had to do but still being a 5th Gen body style the setup may still be really similar.

I figured this would be the case, but I minus well see if anyone has tinkered with their trucks yet. I know the dealer has to put in a new sales code for the computer at the very least.

I had 25 Lonestar that had the 26 gallon tank (even though the window sticker said it had the 33, but based on fill ups from empty I seriously doubt that) I ended up trading it in on a 25 Limited that for sure has the 33 gallon tank again based on filling it up... So the option is out there. As for programming and whatnot, I can't say anything about that

That's crazy that the sticker says you have it but real world is only letting you fill to 26, maybe there is air in the tank?

Here's an update, my parts department did an inquiry with MOPAR and they were told you aren't allowed to upgrade and doing so will void the factory warranty on the vehicle. Kinda stupid but can't say I'm surprised, from what I've heard CDJR has always been picky on what you can and can't do to your vehicle, even if its their own components.

That is only partially true. If you swap out the fuel tank yourself the factory warranty on the fuel tank is void. But that doesn't void the warranty on anything unrelated to the fuel tank.

Yeah it was weird, but after reading how a bunch of people had issues with window stickers not matching up it didn't surprise me. But definitely that bigger tank is both a blessing and a curse depending on how you use the truck. But my Limited definitely has the 33 gallon tank, haven't taken it on a trip yet, but looking forward to the extended range .
