Upfitter Switches

Ok, since I was impatient, i bought AlphaOBD yesterday. ha!

Went in to Alpha and Car Configuration under the BCM and set:
 • CBC Features: Configuration Aux Switches PTO-SIX SWITCHES
 • LIN & Misc: ASBM Present - YES
 • CustSetMenu 1: Auxiliary Switches CSM Present - Switch 3-6 Option

All switches still work, but NO Aux switch options in setting on the radio. (validated each config and also restarted both the BCM and the radio)
According to the uConnect site, I have the latest version (but hard to check there only using the VIN). I'll go back and set it to 1-4 options again in the CSM option and see if they show up for only 1-4.

Anyone else run into this issue yet? I may be an odd case with a 23 BCM and a 19 Truck.

It’s your radio software if your BCM configs are set and you reboot everything 3 times. That uconnect site is no good. It always says up to date but it’s not. The way i updated was someone had posted the links to download software from google drive and i downloaded it and flashed it on my uc4. I had same issue with uc5. The menu didn’t show up until i was updated to a certain version.

Given the switches work from manual changes through programmer the bcm and switches are communicating. Its the radio thats not recognizing it.
When i had uc4 i was missing performance pages and stuff initially until i updated to version UAX PR 39.7, PR 39.9, PR 40.1

My truck is early build possibly late 2018 so it got nothing at all from all its OTA updates.

I only updated to first one because the later ones that came out used to disable features that we manually enabled as it checked with uconnect to see what configs the BCM SHOULD HAVE vs. WHAT IT HAS.

My radio is the 12 inch nav version. I do know some people with non nav radios couldn’t get them because of some radio incompatibility. If you have a nav radio you’re in luck. Check your current radio software version and see if it matches any of the ones i posted.

Yep, looks like my 8.4 NAV UC4 is at 22.32.10. WTF, that's old AS F.

You can try searching in forums for google drive links. Thats how i had found mine and got it updated. I have the files for the 3 versions i mentioned.

Jimmy07 might have all the versions in between. From what i heard its sequential updates so we can’t jump versions.

Ugh, so I need to find the 34.2 version first, then 39.7 or higher. I haven't found any good links yet, still searching for the 8.4 screen versions.

Nope, I need a whole slew of versions... I can't find anything for the 8.4 screens.

Found the software updates for the 8.4 UAV versions, go here for getting to version 40.1:
Radio Updates

jscan works as well, worked with the Jscan app vendor and confirmed it worked with JSCAN, I updated the details here:

Anyone know a part number for a 5 switch control panel with “Alt Trailer Height”, Traction Control, Tow / Haul, Park Assist Off Rear, Park Assist Off Front?

The first button would actually have the text “Alt Trailer Height” and not an image of a truck with up/down arrows.

Hi,
im from Germany.

I have a 2022 Ram 3500 Limited Longhorn with factory Aux Switch Panel. Its a great solution to connect additional lights.

My second Car is a 2023 Ram 1500 Limited with Air Ride Suspension. Is it any Option to retrofit Aux Switch Panel?

I checked some threads but I have not become any smarter.

Is it possible to use the switch from the 2500 with rear air suspension 68578991AA in combination with the Aux KIT 82216449AC?

Is there any solution to install Aux Switch Panel in a 1500 with Air Suspension?

Thanks for Help.

Gas trucks, top row of switches called out, bottom row is 6 aux switches:
Tow/haul, traction control:
19-21: 68476018AB
22+: 68578987AA
Tow/haul, traction control, rear park assist:

The question is my factory button for the air suspension have 4 steps (4x LED) and It works with up and down push.

The 68578991AA Panel looks like a 1x push button with 1 light. 🤔

This guy does....but he doesn't have the kits complete yet for the 2019's. I'm looking to add them when he does.
URL is bad and will trip antivirus/phising protections

I’ve got a 2022 RAM Laramie and I’m wondering if it’s possible to add 2 more switches to the existing switch board?
I’ve searched and I haven’t seen anything specific to this.

Yes, and done a lot. There is a sticky in the modification forum that gives you several options.
I'm still in the acquiring stage but every part number you need to make this happen is there.
Video and pictures are linked in sticky making it almost idiot proof, but I'm going to test that soon 🤪

Thanks for the information. I still can’t find the switch I’m looking for. I want to keep the same layout and trailer controls, just want the added switch instead of a dummy switch. But if it’s not possible to get it, I’ll have to make my own.

I should start reading more before I jump in with a dumb response. I'm new here so I have a lot of learning to do.
I think you could possibly get 2 more however it may not be what you want on them. I've got the same type of issue but different situation. I'm wanting to add 2 more switches above the auxiliary switches where the blank/dummy switches are now. When we get the answer to either question both will more than likely be answered. You would think AUX switches would be a little easier to configure

No biggie, I appreciate the response. It has great information and I might switch the whole aux module because I want the switches more than I want the backup steering. I’ve towed trailers for almost 30 years and I don’t need the backup steering. It’s just a novelty gadget.

I thought I would like it as well, but it got me all messed up with the mirrors and screens. I'd rather use my mirrors or turn my head at this point. I'm just preprogrammed to do it the old fashion way something never thought I'd say. The aux switch just look way better than running a pad of some sorts. My aux switches came in and it looks confusing, but I'm sure if I just follow the instructions I'll be fine. Like I've ever ready them before lol

There’s no “modules” for it. It’s literally the switch bank, and a fuse/relay box wired up like any other switch on a relay with an accessory (with the aux switch output wires completing the ground circuit on the relay coil). An HD switch bank will definitely plug right into a DT truck, fit perfect, and your existing switches will work. It’s just a matter of will the aux switches work- I believe so. It’s a gamble someone is going to have to be the first to try. You might possibly be able to determine without having to buy the switch bank first by finding out if the DT EVIC supports commercial settings (this is where the settings for the switches are). If you have AlfaOBD, enable these settings, and see if the commercial settings menu shows up in the EVIC (you might need the windows version to access some of these):
CBC Features: Configuration Aux Switches PTO- SIX SWITCHES
LIN & Misc: ASBM Present- YES
CustSetMenu 1: Auxiliary Switches- 3-6 OPTION
If it works out, and you can get the aux switches to light up when you press them, then it’s a cake walk after that- add the six missing wires into the connector that plugs into the the switch bank, $15 fuse box, fuses and relays, output connectors, and wire up the box and mount in the engine bay somewhere.
Jimmy07, I am with you. This should be no brainer, as long as you get the AUX Switch and Wiring Harness w/Fuse box, that includes w/F&R Sensor, T/C, and Tow Haul buttons that match your current Switch Panel, it should install exactly like if you installed an after market AUX Panel switch (AUXBEAM etc...) and just plug and play. Of course, you have to us a tap fuse to get power to the switch panel Im sure. see link Mopar Wiring And PDC For Auxiliary Upfitter Switches - 82216449AC | Mopar Online Parts

The next think I like to ask, is can you give me instructions on if I need to the AlfaOBD in order to install this factory AUX switch onto my 2020 Ram Rebel 1500, 5th Gen or can I just install the wiring harness and Fuse box kit and plug and play or is it still more complicated than just that?

Ram engineering will NEVER tell you that any system can be added to the truck after the fact (unless it’s a kit they offer such as remote start), so you can’t go by what they say. I’ve been involved with adding pretty much every factory option onto FCA vehicles that didn’t come with that you can think of, and definitely every one that ram engineering says isn’t possible. I’ve even added factory options onto vehicles that didn’t even exist as options for that model (such as blind spot monitoring with cross path detection on 2013-2018 Rams, which didn’t exist until 2019MY, and it operates like factory). I can assure you, there are no other modules needed for the aux switches. You must be referring to the VSIM (vehicle system interface module), which is a separate system that deals with upfitter options, such as wigwag lights, etc.
Nobody has probably tried it yet because, a) everyone wants to wait until somebody ELSE tries it, and, b) whenever someone asks about it, someone else comes along and says “why don’t you just get an aftermarket option”, and the thread shifts in that direction.
I would try it out for you guys, but I don’t have access to a DT truck. Heck, if anybody has AlfaOBD for windows, and wants to try it, I have a spare aux switch bank I’ll send them to plug in and test. It’s got tow/haul, traction control, and rear park sense on the top row.
Either way, anybody that wants to give it a shot, I’ve outlined what needs to be done to see if they’ll work on a DT, which is the exact same process for adding them to an HD truck that didn’t come with them.

Nick57, have you been successful on your journey to installing the Upfitter Kit to your Ram? I agree with your sentiment exact. I too want to install this in my 2020 Ram Rebel 1500, 5th Gen as well but can't get any traction on this.
I truly can not believe FCA hasn't pulled their head out of their*** yet and realized that we want this and are willing to pay for it. Obviously they can do it being that it's in the TRX's. Come on already Ford even has this as an option.
