No Key Detected

And just to reiterate from a previous post of mine, this is NOT just a 2025 issue, my 2024 had it happen multiple times. (I have not had it happen yet with my 2025)

My 2025 Ram 1500 had this issue for the first time yesterday. It's currently in for service after having it towed. Would not unlock the truck, used the key in the fob which set off the alarm. Tried touching it to the start button and got "key fob not detected". No way to shut off the alarm other than wait it out. Had my wife bring my spare key, which also did nothing. Tried disconnecting the battery which also did not stop the alarm. Most frustrating few hours of my life sitting in the Walmart parking lot trying to figure out what to do and waiting for the tow truck. I'll try to remember to update this thread if there's a fix, but I have lost all confidence in this truck and that it wont strand me again.

This is a serious issue that has been going on for WAY too long! RAM really needs to step up and get this figured out!

These symptoms are almost certainly the RF Hub failure. When the hub fails and you open the door with the key blade the alarm will sound. It thinks you are breaking in because all comms with your key fob is lost. That's why the spare fob acted the same way. Funny but I was able to stop the alarm by disconnecting the battery. Where was the alarm getting its power without the battery? You may find out the failure was caused by water intrusion through the back window as others have mentioned. This is a chronic problem with our trucks from the factory. It's ridiculous. It is possible that the RF Hub failed naturally of course. I am interested to know what they find with yours.

I have not heard of that but if it happens again push the start/stop button with the fob and see if it starts .
Mine did it today and did the push key fob into the start/stop and still didn't work

That’s what the dealer said to do and that gives them more information about what could be wrong .

Anybody ever figure out how to fix this? Happened to me literally on the first day I owned the truck after I purchased earlier today. Wondering if I should return the truck and go with another brand.

Definitely return it and buy another vehicle that is just as susceptible to having issues.

I’ve owned a lot of trucks in my life. Never been stranded because the key won’t start the ignition… on the first day I owned it.

So the dealer replaced my RF hub and both keys as they could not get my original two keys to program to the new hub and thought they may have been defective. The truck is still having issues unlocking. I have not had the No Key Detected since the replacement but when I go to lock or unlock the truck from the handle it only works about 1/2 of the time. It works less from the tailgate to unlock. It also seems that my key fob range is much less on this 2025 than all of my other RAMs. I there an "antenna" or something else that they can look at. The 2025 has a differnet door handle without the physical lock buttons. This is such an annoying issue and hope it can be fixed.

This happened to me for the first time today. 2025 SST w/ 3300 miles. Would lick or unlock. Only after pressing many many times. Then truck couldn’t not detect the key. While sitting in the truck I just repeatedly pressed unlock and then somehow my truck detected the fob.

I changed the battery in the fob just in case. It’s currently working, but suspect it’s a matter of time before it happens again.

Definitely has me stressed out. I’m supposed to take this truck on a big road trip out west. Hoping I don’t get stranded.

I already posted in this thread that it has happened to me on my 24' and my 25', but has anyone with a 25' tried starting the truck with the credit card after having no key detected with the FOB?

I haven't had it happen since I found out that I have the card to open the doors and start the truck, otherwise I would have tired it.

2019 laramie and this happens to me from time to time. i remote start and it unlocks when i walk up and grab the door handle. i don't like the whole start button thing. putting a key in the column and turning it was not difficult and it worked like all the time.
i get it's some kind of security system but a thief can bypass the system pretty easy.

It's definitely a security risk these days having the sensors operate this stuff. They use antenna's to replicate the signal and boom, they are in and out of your driveway in 15 seconds before you even pull up the notification on the camera or open the door.

Thankfully I'm in an area that I don't need to worry much about it, but even going into the grocery store or gas station is a risk with that stuff turned on. I guess I'll take the risk for now. By all means, steal it and buy me a new truck in the same month. It's really not that special to me lol.

Now if it was a TRX, yea... I'd have that stuff disabled ASAP and more than a couple kill switches installed.

That said, I've always enjoyed the push button start but I've had multiple issues with my '22 as well. It hasn't done it in a while but they come in 3's... seems like if it happens one day, it happens the next and the next one after that too and then nothing for a while lol. The one specific time it's happened is at the gas station. Hop out, fuel up, hop back in and it tells me no key detected, but goes away almost instantly after a restart. Just wireless brains farting.
