Only twice was my oil temp high. Both times it was over 100 degrees outside (oil temp was around 250F) and I was driving 80 MPH.

I don't tow very often and when I do it's usually a small dump trailer, maybe 6k lbs max. Last year I added a Vararam CAI and noticed the engine temp during summer months, 100 degrees regularly, was running really hot. Pretty sure engine temp was 250+, which seemed high.

I have a 2023 1500 with the 5.7L and the manufacturer recommends 0W-20. However I live in Texas and drive a lot, around 25k miles per year, and have always wondered if I should run something more appropriate for heat. My understanding is 0W-20 is thinner for cold weather and to improve MPG...

This is what I have done lately. When all that mud got in the engine bay I kinda freaked out. Luckly when I pulled off the CAI there was only a little drip down in to the engine itself

Looks great! did you use a template to cut it? One thing I didn't consider is that I do mudding/overlanding around Texas and there's no cover to keep water or mud out of the intake.

Correct, that is what I was referring to. I left it off because I wasn't sure how to cut it and I read that it can actually restrict airflow.

Hello - I recenlty installed a varam CAI last November. Everything has been running fine until now. My fan is continuously running while driving and I can't figure out why. I've checked my coolant, and it's full. Could it be because of the heat? I live in Texas and noticed it starting happening...
